I havn't seen it myself, but a lot of people said he was on sky news showing his hand and it was seriously swollen. I watched him arrive in London, and he said he was on his way to the doctors to get it checked out. So the hand things true my friend.

Good post, how I see it exactly. Haye did a fine job. I'm surprised there's even controversy about this. I kept thinking during the bout of the old maxim, "Just win this fight, look good in the next." That's about all Haye could do. But I doubt Haye will fight like he did against Valuev when he faces Ruiz or whoever is next. Haye isn't the type of fighter that will turn down the oppurtunity to add to his ko ratio.

Everybody seems to feel that he didnt really sprain his back. The point is that he probably publicly lied big time about it.

David Haye: "It took me twenty minutes to get into the car. How can you fight when you can't train, spar, run or even walk ? I've fought before when I've been at 80 per cent. Last week I was around 5 per cent. I wasn't in a state to fight a female amateur middleweight, let alone the world heavyweight champion. It would have been irresponsible of me to go through with it."
"I was shadow boxing and my back

Team Haye seems to also claimed a hand injury befor the Klitchko fight

    David Haye: “I definitely felt

in my right hand,” said Haye afterwards. “But I got the feeling back and if I had had a couple more rounds, I’d have knocked him out of there.”

It took me less than three minutes to find the above quotes so it aint me who needs to do their homework.:-(

Even Jim Watt had Valouev winning. He said that Haye couldn't win the fight by running alone, he had to throw punches, but Watt did not know the judes were money judges. The Judges were not German, by the way.

Jim Watt sometimes gets it wrong, listen to his commentary on the Rhodes v Moore fight etc. If you payed close attention he was constantly quoting the possibility of bias towards the home fighter henceforth he marked the closer rounds to Valuev.

Actually Watt was for Haye, but he simply told it like it was. You can't win a title by running without throwing punches. However, the judges were the best money can buy and he did not know that.

Funny how Valuev has gone from being a Zombie to the biggest heavyweight of all time, as if that means anything!

VALUEV IS AND ALWAYS WAS ****.

    HAYE BARELY BEAT HIM.

HE'S A 'NATURAL HEAVY' WHO 'BOILED DOWN TO CRUSIER' SO ALL OF THIS 'CAME UP FROM CRUISER' is irrelevant.

Eeither KLITSCHKO will KO this latest media darling.

    HAYE WAS ****!!!!!!!

What you forgot to mention is a 189 year old and shot to hell Evander Holyfield did the same thing just a year ago.

Punch stats from rounds one to six courtesy of German TV:

    Valuev - Thrown: 156 Landed:24

    Haye - Thrown: 83 Landed: 33

And of course a big difference is that while Valuev's shots were fluffy, vague arm punches Haye made sure that he actually cracked the big man with solid shots at least a few times each round.

As I've said before, if you watched this bout on a stream you're really in no position to think you can judge it - That sort of image would make it easy to confuse some of Valuev's narrower misses with shots landed. I'm not surprised almost everyone at ringside (other than negative nancy Jim Watt but aside from him, even the German TV crew had it for Haye) had Haye winning.

why are people slagging him off? He fought how he had to against someone like that, why wopuld he go on the inside and let a 22st giant start leaning on him and tiring him out? He did what he had to do and did it well. It would've been stupid to go for the ko especially seeing as the first time he landed a big shot clean he injured his hand, what did you expect him to do just keep throwing it? He might get ko'd against a klit but thats not the point, the point is he did well against an opponent that (rightly or wrongly) was a genuine belt holder with only one defeat, so let him have is fun and we can all wait to see if he can follow it up

    Let me get this right:

    - 18 months after his declared assault on the HW division, Haye fought his his second HW fight in 18 months, after failing to make fights happen with Johnson, Rahman, Wlad, Vitali.

    - He beat a man who only has the WBA title because of several gift decisions and because Chagaev was stripped

    - He gave up a foot in height an 100 pounds to someone who is clearly unable to use thos physical advantages.

    - He beat Valuev less convincingly than Chagaev or a 40 year old Donald. Donald was knocked out by Vitali, Chagaev was utterly outclassed by Wlad.

    - He produced the lowest class trash talk possible, making disparaging remarks about Valuev as a human being. He made remarks about Wlad's performance against Chagaev as boring, coming up with a much more boring performance against valuev, who was soundly beaten by Chag.

    - Any proof for a broken hand? His hands were appearantly fine in the 12th round. Do you believe anything Haye says???????????????

    - He claimed that the Klitschkos made impossible demands in their contract as a reason to bail out of a fight with Vitali. Somehow that same contract was fine for him tom sign with Wlad before, a fight that he didn't show up for and then asked for a psotponment with ever - changing dates.

If Haye had shown a little class, it would be easier to give him more credit. FACT: Haye moved up to HW claiming he would only fight the best and then chose the worst title holder, generally considered one of the weakest title holders in boxing and in HW history. FACT: He failed to make fights happen with four different fighters in one year, fighters who aren't known for being difficult to deal with in contracts.

Are you sure about that? Wlad's next opponent will be either Povetkin or Chambers. HBO wont pass on those fights, specially Chambers. First of all hes American and very good boxer coming from big wins. Povetkin is the best contender out there, he's exiting and also a very good boxer.
You are probably right about Haye being on HBO but you wrong on Wlad not being on HBO.
