I used to have exactly the same opinion. Haye can take Wlad but comes up well short against Vitali. After saturday though I'm not so sure anymore. I think what's puzzling me is he obviously had a massive speed and skill advantage but never really used it to inflict any damage and I can't understand why. It's like someone in a Ferrari racing a double decker bus but being content to cross the finish line a metre in front. You want to see the effect of the throttle going down, hear the roar of the engine and see the Ferrari pull away majestically. But it just trundles along in first gear.
I'm not a fan of Haye but I think people need to give him a break. He didn't run, he boxed sensibly on the backfoot and easily beat Valuev, IMO by about 9 rounds. Those who think Valuev won don't know how to score a fight and don't know what boxing is about. Yes it wasn't an exciting performance but he was fighting for the title against a giant and had a hand injury. Almost all boxers have at least one fight where they look crap. All his previous fights have been exciting so he's allowed one dull performance at least. He's still one of the most exciting fighters in the world. Y'all say he landed 3 decent punches a round but that's still 3 more than Valuev landed. I think David Haye is a both a **** and a nice guy. I see his interviews and he's so easy to like but his comments about the opposition are classless and cheap, and for that reason he's also easy to dislike (does that even make sense?) and I'm not a fan. He thinks he's funnier than he is but when you've heard for the 90th time about how hairy Valuev is and how he looks like someone out of lord of the rings, it's boring. He doesn't need to do it because his fighting style is exciting enough. If only he talked less and fought more he'd have more fans. 24 fights untill now is not enough. But even though the hype is maybe a little overblown it has been a while since Britain had a heavyweight champion so it's understandable. Besides, his reign won't last long. As soon as he runs into a Klit, game over:yep
Isnt it obvious? Haye was clearly very worried about his stamina...which explains his poor punch output. If he was more active he could have gassed and been stopped in the final 3 rounds. Funny the amount of people thinking Haye will now destroy Wlad... Both of them have somewhat dodgy chins but unlike Valuev, Wlad actually has the speed and skill to land on Haye....And Wlad is maybe the biggest puncher in the division.
Which is what you are given if you fracture or break a metacarpal. Plaster is no use. I have fractured a metacarpal in a fight, they taped my little finger to the one next to it and said avoid banging it and it will heal itself. And my hand was nothing like as swollen as Hayes. So unless you know what you are talking about, it's probably best not to bother.
Which suggests it might be a more serious break in multiple bones or places. Or that he is sick of reading twats on the net.
This is what is wrong with the British Public.. They build their sports athlete's and teams up beyond belief..! and when they fail..? well you know what happens.. It happens with the England Football team, and so on. Simply because people cannot acept facts and reality. David Haye has talked the talked, but in my opinion he has not lived up to the hype so far "At Heayweight", or walked that walk. And i know that walk well.......... Great Performance, master class, just like Ali. These are some of the words that have been used to descibe David Haye's performance..from the British pundits and newspapers. I'm sorry but i disagree.. David Tua, Wladimir Klitschko, Vitali Kiltschko afew other heavyweights... I don't think any of these guys are scared of David Haye. I feel that David Haye is setting himself up for a big fall, he has disrespected and discredited the heavyweight division.......... He's already been fast tracked to a World Heavyweight title... He said he was coming to bring bombs voilence and knock out these bums out... I don't understand why people are giving him special treatment..after in what i saw with my eye's and underpar, not a world title worthy winning performance. In the history of my life, ive never witnessed a fighter winning a world title "In such a negative fashion"
