Price was a disgrace to professional boxing in this country tonight - and that's saying something. You could tell Bunce and Lillis wanted to say as much but held back.

Who wants to pay for all of that just to see a spineless mouth fall flat on its back. He's a f*ckiin spit bucket and that's the end of it.

Please mods, ip ban these posters who call fighters who aren't world level 'bums'...it's ridiculous. So what he's not world level? Are you world level? Obviously not. Mods should have to of boxed themselves and then they might understand how disrespectful it is to call a domestic level fighter a 'bum', especially considering most of these ****s have probably never even sparred :patsch

I'm not saying he's a bum. I'm saying he's a quitter. The evidence is there for all to see.

Is he tougher than me? I hope so. But a professional heavyweight prizefighter owes it to the sport and the paying fans to give his all, not to go into a shell and turn his back when the going gets tough. People give Audley crap, but at least he takes what's coming like a man and doesn't try to climb out of the ring when someone is beating on him.

I respect that he got into the ring against someone he clearly knew could take him out again, but that respect is trumped by his quitting like a dog.

Backed Thompson to win at 7-2 couldn't believe the odds the first fight he was taken out by a cuffing shot behind the ear.

He was chinny in the amateurs & last night really exposed that fact again just doesn't know what to do when hurt.

If he wants to operate at domestic level fine but that his limit he really has nowhere to go.

I dont think this is necessarily true, but that match won't be made.Wilder has been seriously underrated here in Britain.Bronze medallist like David, unbeaten pro, whatever his opposition, undeniably big puncher and in condition. The heavyweight division is possibly the least talented of them all.A long time ago somebody,I think it was Icemax, expressed concern about Davids lack of rounds and the jump up to Thompson level.Personally,I underestimated him.He proved, more last night than previously, what a good boxer he is,and his heart. No reason for Dave to retire,he's been the victim of being overhyped and by extension, overmatched.I could still see him winning, say,a European title,if as I expect,he carries on.

Price needs a new trainer. It is not that Price is bad, it's that Thompson is extremely underrated.

He is supposed to be a world class athlete. He isn't. He was utterly gasping for breath after a couple of rounds.

As much as I like the guy, he simply has no endurance. He relies on his big winging punch but has no fluidity in his movement: forgets his jab, can't hide his chin behind his shoulder. Or stick to a plan. It's probably better that he finds out now and can make other career plans. I hate to be so critical, but sometimes you have to be honest.

Do you mean in terms of number of fights or age? If you mean age then he is not exactly young. I mean he is 30 already.

@ thread-- Serious problems with Price that Thompson exposed. If it was the punch resistance in the first fight it is now a lot more things after the 2nd one. I think it would have been better if it was only the punch resistance that was the problem.

Price needs to reflect on this.

Conditioning seems an issue, and perhaps at the top of the division he needs to look at what mental skills he needs to improve on to cope with the best.

Perhaps he will not be able to get to the very top, so few do, and rarely are they British particularly at Heavyweight.

But Price can if he chooses to, make very good money in the game and will be at least be a test for any prospect he meets. And if he can build up his confidence, he can be a very good front runner, with very good offensive tools.

The talk about Price being a quitter and having no heart is rubbish.Obviously a nice guy,the weight of expectation got to him. What did for him was nervous exhaustion.....you could see he was drained by round 3......Thompson who looks to still have it at a decent level, could have blown the kid over by round 4.There are still some good scraps for the lad...Chisora fury Haye?On a positive note his punch resistance looked a bit better...get his head right and have another go!

totally agree with the nervous exhaustion.. couldnt believe how tired he looked...i think the whole occassion got 2 with lewis putting even more pressure on him also... price mite never be world class but hes better than wat he showed last nite... i read charlie magri came back and won a world title after getting beat by the same guy twice.. so anything is possible:good

Bare in mind conditioning was one of the things he was supposed to have specifically worked on with Courtney shand and Lennox , all that lifting tyres , running in boots etc paid dividends..... Will he be able to regroup I'm not too sure but the way he gassed after the end of the second and basically seemed to lose heart for the job after Thompson got up was alarming and sad
