32 years old; got KTFO out by Teper, there's nothing for him now. I remember those cringe worthy documentaries about how he was the ''future'' of the H.W division.
Price was never the future of anything. i hope he retires no point carrying on and getting badly knocked out again.
I remember him saying about 3 years ago, that he was 18 months away from being ready to beat Klitschko, what an embarrassing statement that turned out to be.
if I remember at the time, the sky team slated him for saying that, they taught he should have said his ready for the klitschkos right now and was being too respectful and there was tons of fans on here hyping him to the heavens and totally ignoring the huge question marks over his dodgy chin if anything price was trying to not get caught up in the hype and for people to rubbish him now like he was talking nonsense is a joke, everyone else was talking way more nonsense than him
Feel sorry for him no trainer had the ***** to tell him his weakness and what he had to work in. Lewis tried and got told where to go.
Is he really a good fighter though? At top level, he'd never cut it, watch the fight with Teper again, he was poor throughout - his jab was weak and his chin was waiting to be clocked, it was literally hanging just asking to be touched. Price is shot of confidence, moves very badly, has no chin and is extremely stiff. I feel sorry for the big guy, I mean; he comes across as a nice guy, but he's done as a high level fighter. If he stays in the sport he'l just be brought out for a fight against Anthony Joshua or maybe a Dillian Whyte and probably get knocked out. The one thing Price has is a big punch, he has tremendous power but that's not enough. I think going back to his old trainer Franny Smith was odd, as he left him in the first place and then returned afterward? Just very strange. Also, his suits are awful.
The problem with price is where does he go now? Gatekeeper route, is he durable enough for that? but even as a gate keeper its high risk low reward against price, don't forget he can bang if he ever decided to get that mental block out of his head and let his hands go
I'd get him physiological help first, get him using his jab properly and build on his stamina. I'd then get him fighting known top 50 fighters (three or four in six months) and then see if he was ready for the likes of a weak link in the top 15 (Tupou, Gerber, Pianeta). Then either cash out against Wilder or face Chisora in a crossroads fight. I agree that Price isn't gatekeeper material currently. I hope he boxes on as I do think with the right help he could reach fringe world level.
Sorry Satchmo, Price was never good. For me, he got by on intimidation factor, poor opposition and a huge right hand. Almost every part of his game is below par, always has been. I don't have anything against him at all, I admire his tenacity and work ethic, but he was badly exposed against Thompson. Not just by getting KO'd but before that, during the fight. I think he can come again but he needs some serious training and good management to make his power tell against the top 20 of the HW division.
