I get you favor Tua, but surely acknowledge that the training philosophy has changed since the 50's?

Marciano trained to shed as much weight as possibly and was skin and bones. Had he been around today of course he would have been heavier.

That said I don't think he could have done as well in the modern era as he did in his own, he was a relentless attrition puncher and gaining weight would affect his stamina and even with steroid and weightlifting he would still be small compared to the giants today.

Does not matter in what era they fought, tua was naturally much wider and bigger than rocky.marciano was in perfect shape at 185 pounds. It is a myth that he was skin and bone at 185. The squeleton of tua was heavier than 185

What has Tua accomplished to be mentioned in the same sentence as Rocky Marciano? The Rock was an ATG warrior!!!

Tua was naturally bigger than Marciano, no question. I never questioned that.

Marciano was in perfect shape at 185, in his era. The training and diet is different today however, are you really disputing this?

Had Rocky been around today he would have eaten more, lifted weights, and used steroids as everyone else, and by result would have been heavier and more muscular.

As I said though I don't think he could have excelled today though, he was perfect for his own era.

Yeah, 60 years ago they trained for endurance. Now it's about strength and power.
But I have to agree that Tua was naturally larger than Rocky. Marciano at 225-230 would have been a blimp.

I wonder how Tua would do punching downwards.

Can't see Rocky losing this fight. Too elusive, too wild, too much pressure, too much power.

Anybody who can hold a top ten ranking, is a bad matchup for Tua!

Tua would be too much for Marciano in a weight lifting contest. He weighs so much more and he spent a lot of time pumping iron. A boxing match would be a different story.

Tua gets to that point where his punch output dwindles to one shot every 20 seconds usually after his opponent stings him. Marciano may have weighed 188 or whatever but he hit like a guy who weighed 250 or more. The guy just had natural hitting power. To deny this is to deny reality.
Marciano would buzz Tua and we would see Rock outwork him the rest of the way. Marciano probably by decision with Tua pretending like he was trying to win but only looking to survive after the first few rounds.

You are saying that marciano would have eaten more today, he would train weights etc.. Why????? He would be an useless fighter doing that. His perfect weight was 185? Marciano never ever was a hw . he was a small cruiser/big lhw. He did weight even 178 pounds in a fight. Today with 24 hours he would make the lhw límit without problems and he would be a 184 pounder in the ring. Stop talking nonsenses

This forum is too nostalgic. Even when they dont believe what they say. They think " i never will admite that a no body like tua would ko an old legend"

Perhaps the fans of modern fighters are blind to their own nostalgia.

In this case you are completely overlooking a vast gulf in class, based on noting more than an advantage in body weight.

Class is a much rarer commodity than size or power incidentally.

There are weight classes for obvious motives. Tua is bigger, much more robust, stronger, took a much better punch, hits by far harder and no small guy nearly a lhw who is a brawler would last 2 rounds with a monster like tua
