And look at his legs in the same time:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Come on you don't really believe that? You don't sound that much of a nuthugger:good
If Bute had ducked Andrade and beaten up old Ottke instead and almost got knocked out in doing so and then his fans went on saying how Bute was the best and that Calzaghe was ducking him, there would be plenty of anti-Bute threads, and rightly so too! I wrote all that because you seemed to think Dawson didn't duck Diaconu. He did. It is important that this obvious truth is not denied with impudence because what Dawson did was very bad for boxing, and we're supposed to be boxing fans, not huggers of a certain fighter or another. You're new here and you're nice to everyone and you are willing to listen and make up your own mind, so 5 minutes typing all that stuff down, I thought, was just about worth it. Wouldn't have done it for anyone else, though, chuffy!
Decebal, how much did Dawson stand to make by fighting Johnson, instead of Diaconu ? I know you mentioned he dropped the belt rather than face Diaconu. I read your post and you make some good points, i respect that. Thanks for taking the time to do that :good
No. Diaconu was still waiting for him when Dawson faced Johnson with the belt on the table. It's all in the article, please read it. I cannot remember how much he made against Johnson ( 400k if I remember right) but it was less than what he'd have made against Diaconu (1000k); in any case, he didn't fight Johnson for the money, but to get Johnson's name on his resume. I don't want you to respect my points. I'd like you to read the article, if you have time, then read my points and either disagree with me that Dawson ducked Diaconu, or agree with me. If you disagree, please say why. I'm not trying to make friends with this; I want people to know and accept the truth, because Dawson has harmed "the sport" and short-changed the fans. Also, you might wonder why I keep writing about this... ...well, someone has to! Look at sean! Everytime someone says Calzaghe ducked everyone, he dutifully posts a very short list of fighters that Calzaghe could have fought but didn't...why? Because he cares about the truth and about the good of boxing!:good
Fairly easy is the understatement of the year. Fight so one who can atleast put up a small fight. Jesus Christ Joppy is shot to ****.
How did you guess i didn't ? was it that obvious ? :yep :yep :yep :yep Bute Vs Andrade this week, can't wait :bbb Do you remember my original post atsch
Well, you're new, and I guess you want to be in everyone's good books. But remember, chuffy, to be truly respected here you will have to take sides sometimes telling the truth and backing up what is right, even if it makes you really unpopular with the Big Boys who think they run the forum, who disagree with you... :good
Dawson is a good fighter but he's not great just yet. Give him a few years to work on his conditioning and defense. I don't think he's ready for Calzaghe yet. Calzaghe has too many advantages over him: workrate, stamina, defense, chin, and most of all experience and craftiness. Speed and power (or lack thereof) would be a push. I for one thought that Johnson deserved a close decsion in their fight. I saw all the effective work being done by Glen and flurries that Dawson was throwing (while running) being mostly blocked. Thats just my opinon. I actually think Dawson matches up better against Calzaghe than he does against Kessler. I think Kessler would be a nightmare for him unless he can solve his stamina and defensive issues. Kessler has good speed, pretty good stamina, and throws his punches straight and with power. He's bound to catch Dawson and personally from what I've seen, I don't think Dawson could handle.
To be honest Decebal i'm not interested in being in anyone's good books, i tell it how i see it. I respected your opinion because you came across well and talked sense. If i've got a point to make i'll make it, i know what i believe in and am not affraid to say it. Thanks though :good
In my opinion.....No. Here's why, this is what i think. I've taken all your points on board, like you mentioned to duck someone in boxing doesn't nessercarily relate to fear. You say duck, i might slightly lean towards it being a more strategic move on Team Dawsons behalf. I won't/can't question Chad's willingness to take on top level opponents, as stated he's taken on numerous tough oppersition in his realtively short title reign. I think it's more strategic, there's also alot of information that we're not privy too, that must be taken into account to. I do see Dawson fighting Diaconu in the forseeable future, that fight's on the horizen. I honestly feel the road they chose to go down has increased Dawsons markability. He's taking on marquee names, and that's not to discredit Diaconu. I think they made the right moves, at the right time, in my opinion it was a good call to vacate. Here's a question for you Decebal. Put yourself in Dawsons shoes for a minute. Your a champion, looking for progression. You have an obscure, unkown mandatory (outside of the hardcore boxing fans). Do you take him on ? Will the fans then say you're holding the belt hostage,(like Calzaghe) and avoiding the other top dogs ? Or would you take on the Johnsons, the Tarvers, and so forth, to gain recignition, and respect amongst the general boxing public ? and not just the hardcore fans as he would of, by taking on Diaconu. Another point to consider Decebal. Sometimes it's not solely always about the money, it's about the respect. Maybe that's what they thought they were gaining when they went down that road. Respect from the boxing community for cleaning up the division.
