Personally I think Bradley is an ok guy and for the most part say's what he really thinks but he comes across as dumb and laughs at things only he thinks is funny. I'm not a Ward fan but I think he's a very smart guy but he's too smart for his own good, he'd go well on 'fake news ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, FOX etc, etc. He should be commentating on 'Russiagate' that would suit him. Tessitore is a total 'fake news, arse licking, yes man. He'll always come up with the bull**** 'Scoring is subjective, it's what you like' type garbage to justify a fighter being screwed over on the cards. Kreigel doesn't bother me the way he does most.
I'm usually not bothered by the commentators but I didn't like these guys. It's like they had no chemistry with each other and kept arguing over everything instead of calling the fight. Also, the ring announcer and his moronic mistake at the end by making it sound like Rosado won made me facepalm. He deserves to get fired or at least reprimanded severely!
Call me crazy I think ward is the best fighter turned commentator right now and I dont get the hate he receives from the booth. Bradley was good but I think hes trying too hard to be teddy atlas with his shouting catch phrases. I actually really liked the bob papa shawn porter team on ring city on nbc sports
My favorite duo in recent years were the guys who did Ioka vs Palicte on UFC Fight Pass. This content is protected This is what commentators should be doing.
i will have to watch this when i get a chance i think 3 commentators is too many and often they talk over each other or throw out irrelevant ****. I am usually ok with one like the old days with don dunphy or col bob sheridan. the improvement being 2 with one guy talking about the action and another putting in other observations often works good with a fighter i liked the way porter and papa worked off each other on nbc. papa called the action and asked porter questions that created discussion. the favorite was winning and papa would ask him why porter would break it down and then papa would ask about what the guy needs to do to make a comeback. there was dialogue created about both fighters and it seemed like a fairly called fight i see a lot of people nostalgia-ing over HBO but they could be very bad, Pacquiao vs Bradley I was one of the worst called fights I can ever remember. they didnt call anything bradley did, lampley yelled at kellerman for even thinking out loud the possibility that bradley was winning the first round. they hardly called any of bradleys punches and called a bunch of punches that didnt connect. i think the dazn team had moments of being good but i think they get off topic and argue with each other. the chemistry reminds me of 3 long time friends sitting around a fire drinking beer and busting each others balls. its funny for them but their jokes to each other and banter while interesting to them is a choir to listen to. i feel like when they are actually calling the fight they are fine as a team but they spend time on tangents and talking about stuff not relevant to the fight
as for the original topic i like dazn, i cut the chord years ago and its one of the best ways to watch fights and cheap so i dont really complain much production: dont really care about the on screen graphics or the ring or whatever all that much. i mean dazn has done stadium cards in europe and arena shows like the garden in the states to small little club venues i think they do fine. if having less flashy production keeps the service cheap i dont really care they show a lot of fights, they have what 4 cards in a row and big names. some of the fights arent great on paper but we almost (should have) had a big upset last night. sure the fight stunk but that was a big upset. and we got a great prospect like kazahk thunder on there. in 2019 before the pandemic dazn had some great fights and a ton of cards from top to bottom. commentary: a definite weak point for them. i have problems with espns commentary, mauro on sho, and sometimes pbc depending on the network can have bad commentary too grisham: he actually spoke out last night and criticized the fighters for a lack of action saying that they landed less than ten punches a round and that the fans watching wouldnt like the fight. he also said jacobs needed to step on the gas in the 12th and that got him into an argument with mora about selling out late in a fight where grisham the non fighter made more sense. i made fun of grisham a few times in the rbr but in the main event he wasnt bad i just dont think he adds much to the commentary mannix: i know a lot of people didnt like his scorecard and find him biased. he did explain his scoring in a way that made sense when you consider a lot of harold ledermans bad cards and his poor explanations. mannix also mentioned often how rosado was the busier fighter and many judges favor aggression and activity. he also repeated that many rounds had hardly any action and the fight could be scored many ways. he didnt say jacobs is winning flat out and there is no argument for rosado. he had jacobs ahead explained why but gave reasoning as to why he may be wrong. i dont mind that, i can take commentary i disagree with but not commentary that is telling me something and i think they dont even believe is happening. mora: he did call out jacobs for lack of fire and the way he called the fight later on hinted at the idea of rosado winning though never openly said it. however in the 12th round had the bs argument about not throwing away 11 rounds by going for broke and i actually thought grisham was right and commented on it in the rbr. mora saying that leads me to believe he felt jacobs was actually winning and didnt need to sell out or just had to win the 12th not get a KO or KD. i think mora is hot and cold there are times where he makes good insights and times where i think he just gets pulled in to bad banter with the other 2 i think overall the dazn commentary team gets pulled into arguing or joking with each other too much. like dazn jabs has mannix and mora and they are busting each others balls and it works on the show but not as a fight night commentary. like mora had interesting insight in relation to vernon forrest's stance and grisham or mannix was like "you fought forrest" sarcastically and interrupted the point he was making. i feel like the joking with each other led to the team going off topic a lot and not putting in interesting enough insight.
Nothing worse than having a pro boxer on a commentary team who doesn't give a technical insight. Highlight basic tactics that are clear. Like Lopez Loma, Lopez's first round was brilliant & they didn't really talk about it.Loma didn't fire off any offence. Self-explanatory why. But also Lopez not falling for any feints, targeting the body almost exclusively. I don't think he threw any headshots but the jab. Gave nothing to Loma to work with.
Early USA Tuesday Night Fight telecasts, even the early ESPN Top Rank Boxing shows back in the 80s when these cable channels were new, were similarly low-budget and cringeworthy. The only thing saving the latter was Al Bernstein. TNF had Sean O'Grady, who was horrible, every bit as bad as Sergio Mora.
Awful brand. Mora and Lewis worst announcers in boxing right now. ESPN and Showtime’s production blows DAZN out the water.
