Golovkin vs Murata on December 29th is for some reason going to be placed on PPV by DAZN as their inaugural effort at it. Mind you this will be on at a time that people will struggle to be watching it in the Americas or Europe so the fact they chose this fight of all fights to be their first one on PPV is truly mind boggling stuff.
I won't be paying a premium for the kind of fight that HBO and Sky Sports/BoxNation would've picked up for subscribers a few years ago. If fans support this with their wallets, just about any decent fight with some kind of name involved can be pitched as PPV.
Yep! Get us hooked, then flip the script. Fans need o hang tough and not buy any DAZN PPV. it's a good system, but these guys want to squeeze as much money out of the fan as possible. When I say hang tough I mean it! Even if they offer , Loma/Lopez, Fury/Usyk, Spence/Crawford all on the same card. Don't buy it!
I mean I know I alluded to this when they gave Canelo and GGG those contracts not to mention Danny Jacobs has getting $30 million. The contract expense versus subscription returns was simply not a sustainable model. And now DAZN like PBC have to eat their own words when they were saying “Free TV” or “PPV is dead”..
This fight is not PPV worthy. For Usyk-Fury I would be willing to pay 29.99 only because I used to pay a **** load of money every month for HBO and also Showtime and then 50-100 for PPV. With DAZN I pay like 8.33 USD a month and get boxing fights. A mega fight can be justified at a decent PPV price.
