Most sensible post i have read on this thread... ESB is full of pac fan boys who will just not hear a bad word said about Pac and will argue a toss without using any facts... I mean come on Asero... do you even watch boxing or know anything about the sport... every time i see your posts they are just spouting your own biased opinion while telling everyone that doesn't agree with you they are wrong. Pac doesn't have big power at these higher weights and he proved that against ODLH who was clearly weight drained which effects your punch resistence and landed every thing but the kitchen sink on ODLH's chin and couldn't put him down once. Had Hatton been fighting that ODLH that night Oscar would have hit the dec atleast once
pac is more of an accumulation puncher @135 and up. but an opponent can only take so much of pac's fast, wicked and accurate left straights and right hooks before succumbing to a KO/TKO. pac doesn't hit as hard compared to 130 and below. but he still does hit hard enough to hurt opponents and KO/TKO them in the latter part of a fight. well, this was expected as pac was after all a former flyweight who has gone up to fight through 9 weight classes in his career.
This sounds like Oscar is trying to make excuses , blaming the embarrassment on him just not having it anymore, he doesn't want to admit that a former 112 lber beat his ass bad.
Honestly I think PAC wasn't sitting on his punches either. I don't think he was looking for a "KO Punch" to end the night. Just be the busier fighter, landing the more signifigant blows. Afterall ....he really didn't need to load up giving he was easily able to find DLH. But to say he doesn't hit hard at all would be a lie...just look at DLH's face to figure out the truth. At 147 I think PAC has good power.......not like the kind of DLH power with the left hook but good enough to do what DLH did at 154.....
Not true......A key sign of being ill prepared for a fight is BALLOONING UP after the initial weigh in. Fighters who gain a few pounds by fight night are in most situations considered to be in GREAT condition! For DLH that didnt' transalate.....it seems he over trained but again.....not enough emphisis is on the preformance that PAC gave to the reason why DLH looked bad. DLH was at his absolute best (in his prime) at 147! given the fact he didn't fight at 147 for 8 yrs when he faced PAC can easily be said to why he lost but IMO physically DLH was prepared....he did the work in the gym, got the nutrition of PROFESSIONALS and had a stellar camp.....what happened on fight night can all be due to speculation of over training, dehydration, weight drained ect.....or it could be the fact he faced a truly great fighter with whom he never expected to be as difficult, fast, explosive and dynamic as one Manny PAC MAN Pacquioau. Either way PAC won and deserves credit whether or not anyone wants to accept what transpired. Excuses are like ass holes....everyone has them.
I believe you're wrong in this case..... DLH has a history of adding weight after the initial weighin...... Like I said before, when he was fighting at his prime at his first go at welter, he weighed 147 lbs for his rematch with Chavez, and then tipped the HBO scales the next day at 161 lbs..... DLH has always come in as a juniormiddlweight or higher for his welterweight fights. Most fighters nowdays weighin at the limit and put on significant weight......there are very few that dont, and they have conditioned themselves throughout their career and become accustomed to not dehydrate. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a prime example of a fighter who's always within 2 or 3 lbs at fighttime, to what he was at the official weighin. If Mayweather would make a comeback and officially weigh 147 lbs and gained 10 lbs by fightime, I'd be worried if I was a Mayweather fan, because thats not the way that Mayweather has become accustomed in his past fights. The same logic for a fighter that always balloons after a weighin, but does'nt for one particular fight. Hatton for example always weighs at the limit of 140 lbs, but gets into the ring weighing close to the juniormiddleweight limit of 154 lbs... If Hatton would to turn away of what he's become accustomed to and walks into the ring againt Pacquiao having only gained 3 or 4 lbs from his official weighin......anybody that would be rooting for him should be worried because he'd be going against what is the norm for him. DLH walked into that ring with Pac weighing 147 lbs.... I will guarantee you one thing.....DLH has never walked into the ring weighing anywhere as low as 147 lbs for a welterweight fight...... There is not question, whether it was deliberate or not, that DLH went away from what was the norm for him weight wise in that fight with Pac.
I have no problem with DLH here. The fact that he thinks Pacquiao doesn't hit hard (and he can tell the difference) admits that he got a true ass kicking. He couldn't deal with a smaller, faster fighter who has developed great technical skills.
To be fair, had DLH not quit, it looked a certainty Pac was going to get the KO, most probably in the next round.
Pacquiao not hitting hard is just a testament to how incredibly fast and skilled he is. I've always said that athletically, Pac's prime was at 122. Its no surprise that at WW he doesn't hit very hard. He is still good enough to beat most of the top10 at 147 and completely and thoroughly dominate Oscar de La Hoya, shot or not, the way he won that fight was still impressive. People forget that 6 months prior Oscar one a lopsided decision over Forbes at 150, just 3 pounds north. Forbes gave Berto a tougher fight than he gave Oscar.
Past prime Pacquiao beat Barrera, Morales, De La Hoya, and Marquez. atsch Oscar was shot. His UD over Forbes wasn't even impressive, he was getting tagged a lot in that fight. Him becoming weight drained only made him less dangerous, obviously.
why don't you quote what i really said instead of altering my post. You deleted half the sentence and it changes the meaning completely.
Because I found it hilarious you were insinuating that Pacquiao was past his prime when he got all of his signature wins. Ridiculous. I don't hate on Pacquiao, that's a misconception. The guy is a great fighter now that he's at his "PEAK". Manny was undeveloped at 126, let alone at 122.
I didn't insinuate anything. You deleted some of what I said to make it seem like i said something that I didn't say.
