Very surprised with all this 'DeGale clearly won' crap! McDonnell and DeGale underestimated Groves boxing brain. Even on ringside DeGale laughed at the idea of 'Stepping off and outbox me?' He never expected it and it was clear as day fight night! Besides he should of lost at a clearer margin because he should of had points deducted anyways!
Not engage? Rubbish, Groves boxed well off the back foot, effectively countering Degale and only really began to slow down from the 9 round onwards. Even then the shot that supposedly rocked Groves landed at the same time Degale stood on Groves left foot causing him to stumble from the momentum of the punch. As for not engaging, watch McCloskey/Khan, that was a disgraceful performance by 'Dudey' :deal
Yeah, cause you're an arrogant, deluded nuthugger with as little class as the man you idolise. Just sayin'.
There is no doubt that DeGale is a pudding but i think he just did enough to beat Groves imo. It was very close as the scorecard suggested at the time so i couldnt argue with the result. If he wants to do anything in the sport though he needs to ditch McDonnell fast. That guy is an even bigger pudding than DeGale! Sadly it seems that is unlikely
The guy has come across a bit like a dick no doubt, some of the stuff he said to Groves was quite dis-tasteful... But the guy has ability and I have no doubt he will go far, will become a world champion soon. He'll beat Piotr Wilczewski easily!
Jim's only achievment as a trainer has be preparing Ben Fogle for his sport relief match against Sid Owen. DeGale needs to get shot of.
"The bewtures fright, the bewtures chunky" says it all really! JDG's talented, he's not the finished article & needs to work on his weaknesses. He should see the loss as a learning curve. If he wants to belittle Groves and take little blame for his performance then I don't think his career will amount to much. BTW I had Groves winning by 2 round.
Degale promised so much in the build-up to the fight and stated 'whatever you do, i have it covered'. I don't know who was worse, DeGale for all his 'ugly kid' comments and not actually winning, or Jim McD who joined in the taunting and passing himself off as a trainer, or Frank ****** asking the BBBC to grant an immediate rematch crying robbery.
