eubank was given 2 weeks notice for the fight with calzaghe, although he had been struggling with weight and was in training for a fight at light heavy he decided it was worth the chance. he admits that he never ate for days even when training 3 times a day during the final days of training to make weight.

Believe it or not Calzaghe used to be a banger earlier on in his career and actually had some power. I think he broke his hands so often that he had to adapt his style, and yes was often accused of punching with the inside of the glove.

yep the haters don't like admitting this or try to forget it.. for most of his career he was a BANGER. Calzaghe had EVERYTHING.. the most all round complete boxer in British boxing ever. he was 39-0 (32 KO's) until his hands went.

embank after that fight jumped up to cruiserweight not light heavy but cruiserweight, so imagine the kind of weight he must have took off leading up to the calzaghe fight on a couple weeks notice

you can be a calzaghe nuthugger all you want but he struggled badly with robin reid, fought roy jones way past his best and imo got a gift decision against bernard hopkins. calzaghe was a good fighter who had a good career but i guarantee in 20 years nobody is talking about his legacy because it is majorly flawed

 

Calzaghe was an elite level fighter with unfortunately a sub-par resume for his ability. There were reasons for this though if you followed his career.

You're absolutely right you can't read too much into the Eubank win as that was a well passed his prime Eubank, but similarly Calzaghe was at a point his career where he hadn't developed many of the traits that made him such a great fighter like his ability to adapt for example.

 

blah blah Calzaghe was definitely green thats for sure,Eubank Was 30 years old! thats a boxers prime years! but whatever anyway if you really think that..put prime Calzaghe in with prime Eubank and the outcome is exactly the same so it's a completely pointless debate! Calzaghe was just better than Eubank.. it's as simple as that. you don't have to be a fanboy of any of them or a genius to work that one out.

 

Degale is the only champion in history.. and deserves some respect..
