Commonwealth, a couple of defences then Smith for the Brit. With all due respect to the holders I don't see much point in an area or English title fight for DeGale (the Commonwealth is borderline TBH).
Basically there isnt just him and Groves in that divison i think they all need to fight each other, Maybe a tournament simialar to super six.. Tony Jeffries,James DeGale,George Groves,Paul Smith then another 2 fighters like Quigley and Dodson.
"Super 6" tournaments arn't practical without a lot of money/ time and willpower. I don't think its feasible or needed at domestic level TBH.
Why do that now when you can build these guys up and develop and era rivalling the golden watson-benn-eubank-collins time? Can be awesome but these promoters, down the line, will have to drop egos/caution and start doing serious buisness with these kids (id add travis dickinson to the list 2) as for degale, adamu's clearly there for the beating he doesnt impress me at all. Degale, despite some amateurish traits that havent been ironed out yet still wins that fight

Don't think I don't see your logic, but we've said like this in the past about other fighters/rivalries and the fights just end up not happening. Normally because someone ****s up and loses or the fight loses its appeal. I'd rather see the fight now, whilst there's genuine animosity between the two and it's at its most meaningful.
...and whoever loses has plenty of time to re-group and come again. Won't happen though, unfortuneatly.
Nope. It's like when we had all those talented light middles at the start of last decade. Apart from Farnell v Takaloo and Takaloo v Alexander (which came late and might have been at 160 at that point) what other fights did we get? Steve Roberts got upset by a nobody and Richard Williams got beat by the Argie (Martinez I think his name was).
Yep, Martinez. Rhodes was in the mix at 154 around that time as well. A real shame very few of those fights came off.
Roberts and Takaloo both had it in their heads they would get to DLH. I know Takaloo did the walking around Margate bit with the picture of DLH, but that was tongue in cheek. Roberts was the one who truly believed he was on the cusp of that fight, I don't suppose you can remember what his alphabet rankings were like at that time can you? At least Takaloo got the Santos fight, although he took quite a beating that night.
No idea about Roberts sorry Dan. I remember Tak "chasing" Oscar though, pretty funny. The shame is, looking back, they were all at a similar level of ability. None were real world class (Williams power notwithstanding) but they could have had a hell of a series of domestic fights with each other.
Indeed. It's one thing chasing dreams but I'm pretty sure, with the right promotion, they could have made more money fighting each other than losing to the opponents they did chasing the big money. I'm of the opinion Williams was killing himself to make 154 in the end, hence why he uncharacteristically crumpled against Martinez. What do you think, Gaz?
