Easy night? He didn't have an easy night vs Luis Firpo who didn't employ any defence whatsoever.

Ken Norton was made-to-order for any top hard-punching heavyweight. How could Norton have been a great fighter when so many top heavyweights, specifically the hard punchers, presented such a bad match-up problem for him? Although overrated in many circles, Dempsey most likely would have taken Norton out in very short order.

Then I must respectfully say that you overvalue size.

Would you favour Floyd Mayweather to beat James DeGale?

Norton a month off of 27 was kod by 188lbs Garcia, Five years later now ranked number 3 Norton stopped a25lbs heavier Garcia who carried most of the extra weight around his midriff, Garcia, who was having his last fight had already been ko'd by Ernie Terrell,Joe Alexander,Ron Lyle ,Joe Bugner and decisioned by Jimmy Young, he was done. 22 Years old Dempsey was caught cold by Flynn a year later he returned the compliment in the opening round .Spot the difference?

He is pointing out Norton developed into a far far better fighter than he had been at the time of their initial encounter.

Regardless of whether i think Dempsey does or doesn't beat peak Norton he has a solid point.

Norton was a month off of 27 years old when Garcia ko'd him, he wasn't a kid. Garcia was his 17th fight, same number as Anthony Joshua.
In the 5 intervening years Garcia had regressed irretrievably, added 25lbs of lard to his torso and been stopped by non punchers like Terrell ,Alexander 7-3-0,and Bugner, along with Ron Lyle and outclassed by Jimmy Young ,now with all the ambition punched out of him,he was having his last fight . Did Norton's chin get any better in those 5 years? Garcia never had one , of his 8 defeats 6 were by stoppage, Ernie Terrell knocked him out of the ring!
