It is very reasonable to assume that under he ruleset Depsey fought in he would have knocked Tunney out because once he downs him, how does Tunney ever recover?

So the question is, how beneficial is the ruleset to Dempsey and why is it so beneficial? Is it a given that Dempsey drops every opponent?

Maybe Dempsey would be cautious if he needed more than single knockdown to guarantee victory?

Because the way it stands, Dempsey is denied victory on the basis of a rule change.
