Here we go, "Knight" Alexander Bakhtin vs. Jose Angel "Pepe" Beranza - 10 rounds @ super bantamweight.

THIS IS THE LAST UNDERCARD BOUT

 

Round 1

The Mexican ring veteran comes forward in waves, throwing high left hooks and blocking as much of Bakhtin's counter fire as he can on his way out. Bakhtin has a clear edge in hand speed. Bakhtin circles off to the right and potshots with his jab from outside. Beranza isn't finding much solid contact, but does land a right hand up top after waving a lazy jab to the body. Bakhtin is mostly jabbing Beranza in the face while hanging on the outside. There's a right by Bakhtin. More jabs. Beranza is trying to envelop him with wide punches and they wind up in a clinch.

Beranza is 35 going on fifty. He just looks like he's full of molasses in there.

 

Round 2

Beranza swats with left hooks, coming nowhere close to landing. Bakhtin is staying back and jabbing straight out at the Mexican. On the inside, just a little head movement keeps Bakhtin clear of all those slow and wide hooks. Bakhtin is navigating in and out without getting hit, but only throwing one or two at a time himself. Beranza ducks down forward and reaches with a jab to the body, just tickling Bakhtin. Beranza slips. Bakhtin jabs and circles with sure double-steps off to the left. Beranza curls up a tight guard and has his back muscles all flexed. Beranza is not having fun getting jabbed from long range but can't find a way to get inside.
