He has a great right hand, but the left is sub-par. As in, bad, and thats a big reason I'm not as excited. The guy has big right hand power, tremendously athletic and is just big. I hope he gets with a trainer who will develop his left hand. A 2-fisted Wilder is a very good prospect. As of right now, I can think of quite a few who would outbox him with ease if he doesn't improve. With his athleticism, the right trainer would do wonders for his skill level. I also have to say, I hope he has a chin. I'm betting his whiskers will turn out solid.
I am going to withhold judgment for a couple of years I still remember Mike Grant. That being said I think right now Wilder would crush Tyson Fury.
Give him a bit of time. He did a fantastic job in the Olympics with minimal amateur experience. That's why he's active and fighting bums. Remember, Mike Tyson had 28 fights in 2 years before challenging for a title. Wilder will probably have something similar, maybe a few more fights before getting into the top - if he makes it. He's still super thin for his frame but he's putting on the weight well between fights. I do like the kid. Just don't go start hating on him when he becomes the next Wlad Klitschko.
the dude needs a good trainer cause his fundamentals are terrible but he's fairly new to boxing and he's very young so he can be taught and the good thing is he's extremely athletic, he's quick for a big guy and he has that killer instinct so if he gets with a good trainer and picks up how to box he's gonna be someone to watch out for.
I hope his chin is sturdy. if it is, he's gonna be a problem in the future, especially if he were to align himself with a top notch trainer
Very true. Too many of good US fighters are fed bums at the start of their careers and it they learn nothing aswell as their ambition slowly dying. It can be worse than Frabk Wrren alot of the time, I mean look at Tye Fields.... Fury's second fight he went up against a guy with 20 knock outs out of 23 fights on his record, Fury destroyed him in two. Nothing more to be said.
This content is protected That means he won't have the necesarry power to keep of *true* 240+ lbs HW's. Deontay has to prove himself before we start praising him. Until then he is basically just a prospect .
Regardless of how he does, he can always say that he saved Team USA from total infamy with his lone Bronze medal. I was very happy for him then and I hope he enjoys success as a pro.
The guy's been a pro for less than a year and has 6 total fights. What do you want the guy to do? Step in with Wladimir Klitschko? :ahhhh
