“It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.” Mark Twain
Everybody keeps harping on about these 'modern heavyweights' but the truth is in the more competitive eras of heavyweight boxing it is rarely the behemoths that have dominated. Wilder hasn't even achieved anything yet and he is being compared to Marciano! Give me a break!

it is a complete nonsense, marciano weighed 195 for the computer fight and he was a complete pig at this weight, marciano was in perfect shape at 185 pounds, any history of rocky training lie a superman to make this weight is a complete bull****, marciano wa snot a big man, he was clearly smaller than joe frazier, you can see in videos on youtube when he wa sin the ring for the fight liston vs patterson or picks of marciano with patterson and frazier with patterson, a prime 206 pounds joe frazier was as wide or wider than a pork old rocky marciano, frazier was a monster was i saw him next to floyd patterson, and rocky was not wider than patterson prime vs prime. except bulker legs than floyd

Rock would have bulked to 210 at least if electing to fight at HW in 2014. Wilder is a one trick pony. Kinda like asking if Derrick Jefferson would beat the rock. I would pick Derrick Jefferson over Wilder BTW.

He would have looked like a bowling ball at 210 and it would have inhibited his stamina and flexibility, two of his greatest tools.

H2H Rocky has virtually no chance other than the small hope of catching Deontay with a punch after absorbing a tremendous amount of damage wading through the vast gap that seperates them. Considering that Walcott and Moore hurt and wobbled him I don't see how he could take the shots from Wilder.

Wilders opponents have been horrendous. The way he telegraphs and windmills his shots are amateurish. He has been well protected to this point.

Not saying he doesn't hit hard, but lets see how better opponents take them and avoid them. Lets see how Wilder does when someone fights back and hits him.

I agree and IMO Wilder has been passed by Joshua and Parker now. At 32-0 you shouldn't have your resume eclipsed by guys with 9 or 10 fights.

So you don't value advantages of 16 inches in reach, 9 inches in height, 45-50 pounds of lean mass, significant speed/athleticism edge to go along with that massive power?

The history of boxing is literally littered with fighters who seem blessed with all the physical gifts, who had bodies seemingly sculpted of marble, who simply couldn't fight a lick.

Lets see Wilder against someone in the top 30-40 at least, before we anoint him as crusher of an all timer. I would think any 'boxing fan' would feel the same way.

I never suggested he was. He probably will never win a world title but the structural and athletic advantages he holds over Marciano are so monumentally vast that it would be remiss to discount them. Such a fight today could not even be sanctioned. If Marciano was fighting today he would be an average sized LHW with a short reach even for that weight class.
Wilder would be an even bigger laughing stock of boxing than he already is if he showed interest in fighting a LHW.

BS. The history of boxing has had many fighters stepping out of there weight class to fight much bigger men. Wilders competition has been laughable to this point.

For him to be fighting for a title just shows how well connected and protected he is. If you choose to be impressed with Wilder so be it. I need to see much more, as to this point we have seen nothing.

I'm not impressed with him to say the least but I would still favor him to easily dispatch of all of the top LHWs, especially the average sized ones. There is a reason there are weight classes in the first place. Marciano vs Wilder could never and would never be sanctioned and for good reason.

Marciano destroys Wildman inside the distance.

The simple fact is heavyweight matches with large differences in size and weight have been sanctioned. Ever hear of Dempsey vs Willard? Carnera vs Loughran? and so on and so on. Wilder wouldn't be facing a LHW. Marciano was and is a HW.
