Dear Hitler, Kind Regards You seem to have a selective memory. Morrison was never happy with the "great white hope" label. He felt that it appealed to lesser life forms such as yourself and did all he could do to get from that label. Race does not determine the skill level of a fighter, last I checked, it's whoever trained you. Might want to watch with the bigotry, as racism, blatant, or in your case, veiled, is not acceptable. Yours truly, Macehualli
I'm saying why is it okay to label Morrison a great white hope yet not ok to use the far more politically correct African American hope label for wilder. Why is it one rule for the African Americans and another for the "white *******s"
Good post CA....... But there are other guys out there with similar problems getting bigger fights. Welliver, Rodriguez, Scott, Holmes....all on the fringe of contention(just like Wilder) but all having trouble securing bigger fights. And like you said, several actually have tentative deals between promoters, ie Rodriguez vs Boystov in 09, but the fighter himself actually backs down. Would really like to see a HW version of an s6, only making it a 12 man tournament and include only those guys willing to make 7 fights in 18 months. Anyhow, that's another thread altogether. Point being.....these guys on the fringe, with their lofty but relatively untested resumes, ARE being avoided as high risk low reward fights....IMO...they should fight each other and then would definitely get the accolades or criticism they deserve.:deal
We don't know that yet though as he hasnt beaten anyone on Gaverns or shot Danny Williams level, much less Fields or Bydenko or even Sherwin Williams level....... That's why people are goading him......he wants a bigger name, well look at Wach and Charrs resume.....there are more than a half dozen fighters better than anyone Wilder has fought, and several of them would meet Deontay on easy terms.:deal
Your right, but lowering yourself to the black racists who hate everything white, is in fact, making you as bad as them. Your a Haye fan aint you? :think
Dear Hitler, Kind Regards The answer is very simple. Both labels are racist. It's not "politically correct" for either side. It's WRONG. There is no race in boxing, as far as I am concerned, only different levels of fighters. Labels regarding race are 100 percent unacceptable. Yours truly, Macehualli
They're probably gonna be targeting light punchers with some name recognition... like Estrada or Malik Scott. Estrada is smallish and Wilder would likely be able to impose his size. Scott has a great record but, again, he can't punch and would likely lose a decision.
I remember the late Harry Carpenter calling Morrison the white hope of American HW boxing, this was during commentary on the Mercer fight. Oh dear. White American HW's, is there even one out there? The last one I recall was Joe Mesi, good figher.
Please, don't include Welliver anymore....the guy is on the fringe of obscurity not contention if not already there. The guy promised from his own mouth, big fights this year, he delivered **** and got embarrassed by an old journeyman.
That's a load of crap. They'd find opponents beyond 2 weeks notice if they looked beyond the Tuscaloosa Home Depot parking lot. It's all part of the hype machine to make him look avoided and build up his win/ko numbers
IF Wilder ever "steps it up," this is exactly the sort of step he will take. He has a Grade AAA china chin, and his handlers know it. They want to build up the record VERY carefully and then cash out with a title fight, where he will undoubtedly get destroyed, ala Marvis Frazier.
