Audley Harrison officially annouced his retirement on his website www.audleyharrison.com. He is known for a couple of highlights in his career like his Gold Olympic medal, his 12th round come from behind KO over Sprott, and his 2 Prizefighter tournament wins. But more so for his much discussed overpaid BBC contract, his early KO losses and his 1 jab effort in one of the worst titlefights in heavyweight history against Haye. He was also know to never give up, even when it was clear he didn't have what ik takes to compete with the top in the pro ranks, and had to live with ridicule from the fans. He kept believing, but it wasn't meant to be. Succes in your further life Audley

Respect to the guy, not the best boxer but believed he could be and strived to do exactly that, a trait that everyone should have. Some scumbags on here abuse him for exactly this which is very said to see. Full respect to Audley good luck in the future.
scumbags how about conning the british fight fans and the people who pay their tv licence out of good money for the **** he was fighting and then taking all that bbc money to america to live there and then when the funds or low come back asking for that £ time and time again
Came across a reasonably nice guy in Big Brother, so good luck to him, he could have made his financial life stable but he chose not to.
oh did they back the wrong horse :rofl just think if they would have signed them the fights we would have had on tv , the sport would be way bigger now than it is
I think Audley gets a bit of stick wrongly for his deal with the BBC- rights fees paid for one fight by the corporation had been far higher than the £1 million, Bruno's first fight back after Tyson for example cost £1.25 million (crazy money). The Lewis/Rahman fight cost in the region of £750k as well so Audley's ten fight deal was actually relatively decent value at the time for exclusive rights to an Olympic Gold medalist's first ten pro fights. The issue with the BBC is that they put their eggs in one basket with Audley and the fact that Audley wasn't all that in the pro game.
The one thing that really annoyed me about Audley was that he did not try his best. His career was built around the one time he had did try (2000 Olympics), before that and after, he did not give it his all. Which is the real shame as he showed he could market himself and make excellent money. If he had then put the same effort into training and overcoming the trait of 'fighting scared', he could have been very special.
