Let’s assess Haney when he eventually steps up. Both had 23 fights, but only one has truly tested himself, the other is the “eye test” as some mugs like to say.
Cool Hand Luke's a very big 135 pounder, but he looks the picture of health at weigh ins compared to Haney who looks like the living dead after boiling his big ass natural 147 pounder frame down to beat up on leprechauns and goblins at 135. This content is protected
Campbell lost to Linaes via a single point. Neither Mendy nor Linares gave Campbell a beating. Those were close fights where Campbell stood his own. And Campbell clearly beat Mendy in the rematch. Why are you so bias against Brits? Luke Campbell is a solid top contender and would give Haney a good fight.
Not everyone is like that "You picked fighter A, must mean you are on team X!!!!" Most are just going with the guy they know of. I have made that mistake many times. Haney´s name has been around for a few years now, but his fights have flown under the radar. So it makes sense that people are automatically picking Campbell.
Thats trolling because Linares fight was close although the correct decision. Mendy rematch was won. I give Haney the edge though in a close bout over Luke
Haney certainly looks the goods. Abdullaev is a decent win. I think Campbell is good too, he's one of these dudes who I rate more of their competitive losses than any wins they have because his record is pretty thin. I'd be down for this fight as I think Campbell would be a very tough night for Haney. Should Haney win then that's a legit W and everyone has to take him very seriously.
Haney will be one of the P4P top within a couple of years imo, but Taylor would win a close decision right now. Step up in class and weight.
Haney might have the beating of him down the line anyways. But I think Campbell would be too much for him at this stage. Haney starts off well but loses a competitive but clear decision as Campbell takes over.
Campbell is a dangerous opponent for any of the young, rising stars at 135, I have to think their handlers would be wary of matching them against someone like Campbell, especially since unlike Commey, Campbell doesn't even have a belt. Campbell really looks like a low reward, high risk opponent right now, I dont think Haney is ready to take him on at the moment, he might need to face 1 or 2 more decent, but not elite opponents like Fortuna or Sosa before he steps in the ring with someone like Campbell, this might be too big of a jump for him.
Luke Campbell is an excellent all round fighter and had an amateur career Haney could only dream of. Campbell is the clear number 2 at lightweight, no one but Loma is beating him right now. Haney is too green and unproven to be picked to win in this fight. It's all the predictable Lomachenko haters desperately searching for a 'hope' to beat him overrating him when he's done nothing yet.
