You say that he has the best skills, but in that post, you know how many skills you pinpointed? One. His jab. Care to break down his skills? And it's such a good jab that at middle range, the short range Urango was able to find his way around it and land at a higher percentage. Bravo, Mr. Alexander.
Khan's jab> Alexander's. Faster, longer reach, and enough power to snap heads back. Alexander's best punch is dat uppercut, it's fast and sharp like Judah's. I also think Alexander throws good 3 punch combos fairly well.
I think it's the way he leans forward with his whole body, head first when he throws his straight left that has MW all hot and bothered.
I just did, a great jab and the ability to throwing nasty punches from any angle. Compare that to 1-2 Tim Bradley. Its not close in true technique. Add in physical ability, his frame, strength, height, reach, speed and he is the best 140lber in the world. Simple as. Not really. Urango was throwing off balance hayemakers, mostly simpley being set up for the uppercuts that Alexander was peppering him with. Again he won 2 rounds at best and those were "well he did better then he did the last round" rounds as Manny likes to call him. He was thoroughly outclassed the whole fight and anyone can see the damage he was taking was takinga toll on him.
Alexander is a good/solid technician, with some pretty good strengths and some clear weaknesses. He won't be great, but he can build up a nice resume for himself and win some titles at 140/147.
I disagree. He can be great if he continues to challenge himself and works hard to amend his weaker areas. He has the physical goods to do it, I think.
I think Khan and Alexander are equally skilled, Khan probably more so, but on the night when they get into the ring, the heart, determination, strength and nastiness will be on Alexanders side, as to why he'd win. However I dont know if anyone has as good an uppercut as Judah. Maybe Lucian Bute. If only he had a brain then he would have been the best in the world. Too bad. But if Judah had a brain he wouldnt be judah would he lol?
You've gotta be f*cking with us now MW. Have you ever actually bothered watching one of Timothy Bradley's fights??? How often do you see him throw the 1-2??? As you pointed out earlier, HE'S SHORT! He's not throwing 1-2s, he's infighting and his bread and butter combinations are hooks to the body then hooks upstairs on the inside. Where do you get this stuff?
The Urango performance told me a lot about Devon Alexander. Brilliant jab, good footwork, fast hands, great arsenal of punches that he throws with precision speed and power all rolled into one, he can listen to his corner and take instructions in from a great trainer in Kevin Cunningham. I guess I am kind of over rating him at this point in his career but brilliance won't be denied over the course of time. He's a unified champion at a very young age also.
Hilarious. It's always worth a laugh when someone says something about taking away attributes that fighters actually have in order to discredit them. Without his great reflexes, Ali would have been a fighter who lacked fundamentals. Therefore he wasn't that good.
No one is beating Alexander for a long time it will take a special boxer and at this time he is not out their.
He was running for his life against Urango until the uppercut landed. He's overrated to say the least.
Devon's quite good with solid command of boxing fundamentals, however I was surprised that he was hit more than a couple of times by Urango's wide hooks.. I thought he'll be dodging and easily countering those kind of shots
This. His defense is incredibly flawed for someone claimed to be "the most complete boxer at 140". He neither possesses great head movement, nor keeps his hands up. A good counterpuncher will watch for that lunging straight left, step to the side and counter.
