Yep i totally agree with Lou's stance on this and applaud him on it :happy . This a sport where one fight to many can change not only a man's life but his family's life. He's got money in the bank..i hope and also Lou knows that Ward isn't the type of champion to slack...Taylor should walk away after a impressive career...but it's a hard drug to kick this boxing game.
Definately give my props for the promoter actually doing this for the sake of a boxers well being... Who picks up where Diabella left off though...or will Taylor perhaps rethink his decision

Seems Taylor can't catch a break at the moment, being Koed badly in his last two fights and now having guys leaving him. Kinda sad really. But I agree with DiBella. Perhaps it is time to retire. No need to risk long term damage. Apparently Taylor's advisor Al Haymon is trying to talk him into retiring as well, and may resign if Taylor doesn't.
Great move from Lou, obviously cares about Taylors well-being and thats great to see. When you've been brutally KOed in your last 2 fights late on having your comeback fight against Andre Ward really isnt a bright move. I think Showtime need to step in and think about replacing him.
DiBella is unusual amongst promoters in that he tends to actually have some sort of personal relationship with them outside of the business partnership. Plus, he LOVES boxing. He was the reason HBOs boxing programme throughout the 90s was so good - he was good at picking fights, and dealing with promoters, and he understood what made a PPV and what made WCB and, later on, he helped create the format for BAD. He's known Jermain a very long time, so it makes sense that he doesn't want to play party to him getting injured. Honourable guy.
Gotta respect his decision. Nice to see a promoter who cares. Also understand wht Jermaine wants to continue though. The skills are still there. I don't think the Ward fight is going to be the walk in the park for Ward that everybody thinks it is. That said if he looks bad in that one then it's time to go (if it isn't already). If he looks like he's in trouble his corner need to be ready to pull him out beacuse frankly after the last 4 or five fights he looks like he could get hurt and no-one wants to see that!
