I think he is just one of those unfortunates who is to big for one weight but too small and or lacks power at the next weight up. Abraham is a pretty stocky fella and a beast at middleweight. Froch walks around slightly above the Supermiddle limit and looks after himself.

It is true as mentioned earlier that Froch ruined him. I am sure Froch could have finished him in their fight but had too much respect for his power, although after what he did to Taylor you cant blame him.

 

AA never was hurt bad in this fight! It was the first time I saw AA hurt last night!
of round two! Clinching Stieglitz and then wabbeling in to the ropes with his guard up.
Also Stieglitz said that he improved his power! I think we can say that this is true after the last night.:bbb

 

Abraham's eye was completely shut, the corner had absolutely no choice he couldnt continue with one eye. But, it did close very quickly, I would have thought they could have worked better on that in the corner in the proceeding rounds to get Abraham a bit longer in the fight. It was a pity because the fight was great while it lasted.

 

So what if he looked good in the first fight? That's debatable but even still, Stieglitz, like most German fighters actually, is not amongst the elite of the division. Froch ruined him at World level by completely outboxing him.

 

Well they only had one break to work on it! The eye was already closed completly after round three! AA got the big right hand from Stieglitz (who closed that eye) in round two! I think they dont had many chances.
And you are right! It was completly right to pull AA off!

 

Thats what I mean, Froch just used him as a 12 round sparring session and boxed his head off.

 

He has never looked completely settled at 168. He was never a technical wizard but he was strong, powerful and tough. Those traits aren't so special at 168 but he did well to win another title. He can retire happy as a champ in 2 divisions.

Yes all in all he was a good champion in two division! Not many boxers can be champions in two divisions!
I thik he is done after the Stieglitz fight. Man Stieglitz really ****ed him up. I also see no point in a rematch. I really dont think AA can improve his performance. Stieglitz would steam roll AA again.
Stieglitz looked very strong for me. And some people on ESB said that he is a euro bum

 

Andre Dirrell ruined him.

 

I actually believe this to be the case. Mentally he took Abraham to another place by beating him. AA felt beaten even though the ending stopped what might of happened. I think it lead to questions in his mind and think it affected him.

Froch put a physically draining beating on him. I think both can lay claim to damaging AA as a fighter. I also think by the time he got into Super Six he was living the good life and the motivation was on the wane.

 

I personally think Abraham has always been a 168lbs fighter, but he chose to boil himself down to 160lbs then rehydrate after the weigh in and massively outweigh his opponents by the time he got in the ring.

When he entered the Super Six he was fighting people who matched him for weight, size, strength, power and he couldn't hack it.

 

Indeed, he'd been walking through people at 160lbs, he almost put Jermain Taylor in coma and he probably thought he was going to do the same to everyone he faced in the Super Six.

Dirrell totally outboxed him, took his best shots, and was able to match him for strength.

AA realised he wasn't the destroyer of worlds he thought he was and it destroyed his self belief.
