Hatton was ahead one or two points. He was the aggressor and he was really going for it for the first 5 rounds.
The fourth was close enough to give to Senchenko, though I thought Hatton's late rally in the round was enough to win it. That makes it 76-76, but I think that might be stretching it a bit. I had 77-75, too going into the 9th.
A better question might be "Did anyone actuallyhave Senchenko ahead? (outside the OP and maybe a handful of Hatton bashers)" :yep
Had it even but a couple of close rounds that could be argued no probs.Right enough Ricky was showing aggression but he was also getted tagged with some very clean shots which looked pretty bad.Same old way too easy to hit im afraid.
Sad thing is, Hatton shouldn't retire and he probably thinks he needs to because of the loss. The guy took 3 years off and in those 3 years blew up 70 pounds and got into drugs even worse. He decides to come back, drop that lifestyle, lose about 70 pounds and take on a current live opponent in the division and would have won the fight by decision if it went to the cards. Of course things are not going to feel like they did back then, it's your first fight back and against an okay opponent. Hatton's tone and hopes would have been way different if he would have picked an easier, tune up kind of opponent. He would have probably knocked the tune up out.
I had Hatton up 5-3 though 8. Hatton clearly wasn't the fighter he used to be but I though he looked ok considering the situation. Senchenko is a solid fighter and Hatton probably should have picked an easier opponent for his first fight back. I know Hatton's retired and he'll probably stay that way but I think he could actually hang around and make for a few more big fights. He'll never beat a top welter like Pac, Bradley, Berto, Alexander etc but he would be very competitive and make for good fights with guys like Khan, Maidana, Morales, etc.
