No, I’ve lived around the South and they’ve become widespread, but I spent much of my summers over the years in the Panhandle (mostly Panama City Beach) and that’s where I first discovered the joy of Publix. When our family would go down for a week (usually 2-3 times a summer, plus some other times of year here and there) the ritual was to stop at Publix as we pulled into town and stock up. I recently moved from Nashville, where I had a Kroger about half a mile from me and a Publix 3-4 miles away and I’d pick up milk and bread type stuff at Kroger (basically things I needed when they ran out) but at least once a week I’d venture to Publix and load up. (They also have a nice bakery.)
