joe has had fewer big big fights than hatton but in saying that hatton has only twice stpped upto the top top level and got taken apart but their two biggest and most valuable fights are

joe= b hop and kessler. both wins

ricky= mayweather and pacman. both KO defeats

He did get spanked...but if Manny/Floyd were past their past as were BHop and Jones...do u still think he would get spanked.
Wouldnt Joe get totally destroyed with a prime Jones???

Jones was above Joe at Light Heavy...

the difference is Ricky stepped out of his comfort Zone...and chased a big fight and made it happen.

Calzageh decided to hold onto his WBO strap and fight some appalling oppostion

this thread makes no real sense. There wasnt a pacquiao or mayweather for calzaghe to fight???

He said himself in some interview--hed carry on if those type of names were around for him.

Eubank was never a HOF fighter....he maybe on par with a Jose Luis Castillio....thats it.

also remember euabnks had 2 weeks notice to prepare for the fight and was comign of losses...and also small horse shows in the middle east...F.Warren Matchmaking at its best

Hatton at least destroyed Tszyu...(p4P nr 3 at the time)...Calzaghe struggled with his p4p win...

Nigel benn and Steve Collins both said they rate calzaghe as being better than them and would have beaten them.

Would have been intersting to have seen those fights

Btw whydid Collins/benn/eubank never fight b-hop jones etc?

rjj wasn't Elite anymore and way past his prime when calzaghe fought him. hopkins was and is still Elite although he is already old and past his prime.

hatton though fought the most Elite of them all twice and both in their primes.

Bhop is elite now only in his name...I like him, but an elite fighter can fight any style of fighter, and at this point he can't. That's why he's trying to fight Tito and not Chad Dawson.

Because Hopkins was never around at the same weight at the same time and they were good so Jones wasn't interested :yep

You answered the question yourself quite handily.
Calzaghe WAS the elite fighter at 168lbs.

Hatton was never elite, popular and rich yes, but not elite. Very clever bloke.
Made a lot out of the boxing ability he had. It was a mistake to leave Billy Graham, much the same for Naz ande Ingle.

Hatton did not fight Witter his main UK rival..., he also handpicked opponents.
