Based on what I'm seeing there's very little interest in this fight. Only one casual I know has mentioned this fight so far. Unless I'm missing something this fight looks on track to do Canelo/Angulo numbers.
They're banking on Mexican live gate, billing it as his "return home"; the opponent for this date never really mattered.
Yeah i didn't even bother watching the press conference as i knew nothing would be said from either side so stale, Just checked & it's this weekend didn't even know that, it's more of a warm up for Canelo & his surgically repaired hand so that's probably why.
I’m up for it But I am not considered casual enough. For instance the group of casuals at the party I attended & Watched the tank vs Ryan fight with - likely have no idea about it. just the way I like it. $54.99 PPV is nice too.
Same. I'm still watching and buying it though, but I haven't talked to any of my many casual friends about it except for one and that's just because he asked me what I was doing tomorrow.
B-sides matter, and John Ryder (as much as I like him) is not someone you would go with from a commercial standpoint. There’s also the fact that people want to see Canelo face Benavidez, or at least a Bivol rematch. So a Ryder tune-up doesn’t really cut it even for a lot of hardcore fans.
