I dun think so. Mikey preserved himself very well in this fight against a bigger, stronger and equally skilled opponent.
He made the right choice although he stank out da house.
No sense in getting ktfo and a one way ticket to bum-land.
For Spence, I tip my fedora. Wuz a lil bit sceptical at 1st, but dayum, he 4 real.

Ok, let me put it to you this way. Mikey, specifically, is no longer in his prime.

I don't think Duran was hurt much by the Hearns loss. He took off a year or two and came back and did fine and won the title 5 years after one weight class above. And Hearns was stopped by Barkley and came back a little too soon and beat Kinchen but had a tough fight. He should have taken off 6 months, but he wanted to fight when Ray was fighting Lalonde to get the fight. So he got the fight and did well against Ray. . Emanuel Steward used to say if a fighter is stopped taking off 6 months heals the body and mind, although Hearns fought Singletary not even 3 months after the first Leonard fight, but he was more hurt than knock out. But the theory of Emanuels is to give the body time to rest maybe physically and mentally to put the knockout behind them. Duran did it and Hearns did it. Norris did. And Mikey was not knocked out. I think he should take off 6 months and recuperate and get his confidence back and he will do fine.

Yeah, I know, but that POS Dance84 was trying to take a jab at Pacquiao (he's obsessed w/ Pacquiao and GGG hate), so I was using an example of how being KO'd doesn't mean squat in one's career.

It doesn't mean much. If a guy is strong and has a little denial, he can overcome a loss. Losses will happen to the best and sometimes bad losses, but if they can make up a good excuse and convince themselves and fight on ,that is part of greatness.

Hell no. Mikey knew he had no chance in this fight to start with and left basically unscathed. Clean win for Spence but this was not a whipping in any sense of the word

The fact is that Mikey moved up two weight classes and survived 12 rounds in the ring with a younger man who is ranked 5th in the world P4P by The Ring Magazine, who is arguably the best welterweight in the world right now and who is also arguably the hardest puncher in the welterweight division too. Most professional pundits were expecting Garcia to get KTFO'd (as was I), so the fact he even made it to the final bell is a testament to his durability and sufficient evidence that (as of 2019) he's far from finished (although he clearly has no business fighting at either welterweight or junior welterweight unless he wants to risk severely diminishing his potential longevity). Realistically then, at 31 years of age, Mikey could probably continue fighting for another 3 or 4 years at 135 where he does his best work whilst avoiding being on the receiving end of any sort of meaningful punishment most of the time. So, overall, I wasn't disappointed with Mikey's performance as, like most other people, I didn't give Mikey anything more than a puncher's chance of beating Spence to begin with (although I was rooting for him). To be fair, I can understand why people feel a bit peeved with Mikey for duping them into believing he was going to pull off the upset of the century but personally I like the lad and find it difficult to rip into him for taking advantage of a golden opportunity to make himself a tidy sum for his retirement fund after risking life and limb for my entertainment over the last decade. Good on the lad; hope he fights Loma eventually and then knocks out a few more contenders before riding off into the sunset as a future HoF'er with one hell of a highlight reel.
