Froch could've still fought Chavez Jr even after he lost to Fonfara. If it's OK for Ward to fight Smith coming off two losses it's fine for Froch to fight Chavez. But Froch didn't want to fight a sham of a fight. He could've fought Kessler or Hopkins too, which I think he would have won both comfortably at this stage of their careers.

I do believe Froch was strongly considering a comeback before he actually retired and GGG was the fight he was considering coming back for. However Hearn explained a couple of weeks before he retired how he did some work on the bag in his garage did a couple of rounds and wasn't really feeling the desire, and didn't fancy another grueling camp for a fight he didn't need to take.

Whereas Lara's team have never even made an inquiry about the GGG fight despite Lara's twitter call outs (let alone try to do anything about the promotional/ network barriers, let alone never moved to middleweight) and Ward's terms have never (and likely will never) move from completely ludicrous.

    did ggg retire froch?

well it depends? are you a bumluvkin super fan? or not? if you arent youd probably see that froch was already on the verge of retirement and ggg decided he wanted to take on an old ripe fighter who was pretty good at one time....to use frochs name

Typical dumbass troll thread. Froch deserves more than some clown on a boxing forum saying he was scared of GGG. Froch is a warrior and his heart should never be questioned. The man had nothing to prove here and was just tired of the sport was happy with his place in boxing and called it a day.

Thats really kind of insulting to a boxing warrior like Carl Froch. His record says he fought everybody, and then fought then again if he had to. He made his money and probably wasn't as hungry as he used to be so he retired. Nothing to do with being afraid of GGG.

I say good for him as he had nothing else to prove, still don't think he should've said 'too big and strong for GGG' or 'I'll back him up like Abraham he's a small man'... if he wasn't going to get in there and show it. I still honestly reckon he'll fight Golovkin once he's had 2 PPV's.

How brave of GGG to call out ancient, battle worn Froch :patsch

Prime Froch would've put a Bute style whooping on that ass

What a bunch of gloids. How can someone be on the verge of retirement? What time frame accurately constitutes a verge? By strict defintion everyone is on the verge of retirement, potentially.

GGG simply helped Froch consumate the term verge. Enjoy retirement with that black cloud over your held Karl.
