I agree, the Juan Diaz that started off tonight was more determined then what we have seen of him recently. He really came out really hungry, wanting to prove a point while looking good for his home crowd. Unfortunately, Marquez is not one you can steam roll like Freitas; good effort though. I think that is the best version of Diaz we will ever see.

    Ah, don't start that ****.

Career performance tonight from Juan, just like it was (with the exception of a couple rounds) from Rocky. In both cases, the Houston boys' best just wasn't good enough, given their calibers of opposition.

You have a shitty perception off that fight. JMM was hurting Diaz before the damned cut.............JMM was picking him off all night but Diaz had a whole lot of adrenaline but you could see him gradually wear down.

Diaz came out hard and he gave it all he had. He needs a better trainer, Ronnie Shields aint making the most of Diaz's talent. How can he not know to clinch regardless of his "instincts". That's a horrible job on the trainer not to instill upon something that every boxer should know, he had more than a good shot to win the fight, if he survives the round, he buys himself time to recover. Bad job on Ronnie Shields. Good effort by Diaz, Masterful work by JMM

Diaz didn't show any physical flaws to suggest that he was a shot fighter. He was the Diaz everybody knew. He lost tonight because Marquez is a better fighter, end of story.

Diaz was the same Diaz. He's relentless, and doesnt stop punching. I thought these qualities can beat JMM here in the higher weights. Obviously i was wrong. It was only effective in the first few rounds where Diaz used his natural weight advantage, and youthful, unrelenting attacks. But JMM, the elite that he is, proved tough and technically better, slowing down the baby bull. That was the same Diaz and the same JMM we knew. few levels apart.

I dont think so...Diaz was clearly doing better in the fight pre-cut..After the fight he stopped fighting...Now while I will admitt that it seemed Diaz was getting weaker, Marquez too wasnt that strong..I just question without the cut that JMM would have been able to overcome and stop Diaz...Its the second time that he has broke down after being cut...

Diaz will be fine he just ran into a master last night. Diaz actually fought well against Marquez and would have been enough to beat any other lightweight. Since the Campbell fight Diaz beat Katsidis comfortably and then gave JMM a tough fight. I think Diaz is and will be fine.
