Yeah, i think if the last two rounds had have been closer, there would have been a case for the split decision, but for me smith won those clearly, which was why it was such a surprise when the announced majority decision.
Where did you sit? Did you see the kick off during the degale fight?

Dan, I gave the last 2 rounds to Smith (VERY easy to score) but still had Quigley by 2 rounds at the end.

was block 11, not sure the row, only two back from the floor though, mint seat, cracking view. i get the feeling in that arena you would get decent view ffrom almost anywhere.

GazI can respect that mate. Some rounds I gave to Smith coz I thought Quigley looked a bit sloppy although I remember thinking at the time I wouldn't begrudge anyone giving them to Quigley. The 3 old boys next to me had it as follws. I think one had it a draw, one for Smith by a round and one for Quigley by two....

All in all I dont really think you can argue with anyones scorecards (Apart form maybe Liam, Steven Smith and Ian John Lewis )

You know what mate, i cant knock it being scored like that, as it was difficult to judge the rounds. i dont tend to keep score as i am going along, just who i feel should win regardless of who a like more as a fighter/person.
maybe because opinion is so split this is why a rematch should happen

I never used to score them until I got into boxing forums, now I enjoy keeping a card and comparing it to other peoples on here. I blame ESB!!!;)

Smith was ****. I thought he lost, but even if he didn't he looked awful. He also seemed to have little power at 168lbs. IB was right when he said the last two rounds were Smith's best which is a sorry story, considering all he was doing was forcing out the punches on pure will.

Don't even think he's European class. Stieglitz might be WBO champ but in reality him, Balzsay who he won the title off and Inkin are European class contenders well below the standard of the fighters in the super 6. I think they' all beat Smith quite comfortably.

I tell you all something, i am not saying that Smith put in some kind amazing performance, because he didnt, and paul knows that too. But what can be said, whether you think it was a poor fight, poor performance, whatever, the more telling shots came from smith, quigley popped out the left jab quite a bit, and then just leant all over smith.
smith countered well from time to time, but needs to step it up if he wants to go further than british level. I personally think he can, but he needs to consolidate at british level and defend and win against the top contenders here before people will accept he has earned the right. And he needs to stop losing his mind in the middle rounds.
If he didn't do this, he would win fights more clearly.
At the end of the day, only TIME will tell on this matter.

If Quigley was in better condition he'd have won. Simply the better fighter in the early rounds until he tired. Certainly smarter and more savvy anyway. And more aggressive.

Oh and in answer to the thread, Smith looked awful.
