I am warming up to Peter. The man has guts. His perfomances are not always skillful, but he toughs it out. I used to put Chag at #2, but with Chag playing games wanting to fight Krasiniqi and postponing against Valuev, while Peter basically fought his way through two three eliminators to get a shot at Maskaev, a shot he made good on, I think that it is only fair to put him at #2. I still think it will be tought for him to beat some of there guys who have a wealth of amatuer experience, but for now, he deserves his #2 spot, and has a puncher's chance to be #1, if the rematch is made. My only gripe is that I wish that he would train about ten pounds off.
He took a beating from Wlad. He is going to take a worse beating from Vitali. He's not gonna be undisputed for long
If Peter and Valuev fought now, Valuev would win. Peter would fall down with exhaustion trying to hurt him.
He comes off as mentally ill or at least on his way. He seems to have unlearned the jab he displayed in the Toney rematch too.
peter will never see 240 again, he is too undisciplined for that. he carries most of his weight on his hips and ass. he has a huge ass btw, imagine how big his blue baloon shorts are and he fills them out.
I agree, his weight, which leads to stamina problems, bothers me most about Samuel. Yeah, you could say his skills suck, punching technique, whatever, but the man has a ton of heart, a good chin, and extremely heavy hands, name one fighter that didnt have a tough night with Samuel, there isnt one, he has just enough to beat anyone in the division, and I would favor only Wlad over him.
he can beat anyone but i would favor wlad, chagaev, valuev and RUIZ over him. yes, john 'huggy bear' ruiz. it would be an ugly match though - lots of wrestling and hugging, rabbit shots... but ruiz is so awkward he would totally frustrate peter (who has no ring intelligence or intelligence per se to adjust) and steal a points victory.
Bigcat said Chagaev was not as talented as Samuel when both were in training camp together, besides that, Chagaev is a walking sickness and would lose to Peter by knockout. Valuev is a 50/50 for me, I could see Peter being beaten by the jab, but I could also Peter outboxing Valuev like he did against Toney the second time around. I agree, Ruiz is a tough fight for anyone, Peter would have to try and hold his composure as much as he can, I see alot of fouling in that one, I too see that match being a 50/50 as well.
i agree with you, i was talking about a prime chagaev, he seems to be on a downslide now, but i'm not sure yet. but peter isn't getting better either like they once said.
While his chin proved not to be granite in his fight with Mccline, he did show his heart was bigger than we all thought. Peter has improved in his head movement, body punches, and his jab, as a huge Peter fan I see his fighting skills getting better, slowly but surely. Peter will never have the footwork of Holyfield or the vicious punching technique of a Tyson, but he is one of the few heavyweights that are still fun to watch, and do lay it all on the line, something that seems to missing now adays. I see Peter killing Golota in under 6 rounds, probably the first or second round. If he fights Vitali, which I doubt, you will see how old and overrated he truly is, he will also be TKO'd around 6th or 7th round, but that fight will be a brawl up to that point, think Lewis/Vitali all over again.
