All other wins are more or less important? Two titles on the line?

Yeah sure now . . . you're not talking of the "world cup" as it is . . . you're talking about individual titles and individual fighters. :yep

the philippines won the world cup. plain and simple. you're a stupid freak to deny them that. and yes they lost one of the championship bouts. but gerry won the other championship fight. end of story.

i know you're here again to put down filipino fighters and their fans but it just won't happen stinky. other than gorres and maybe banal, most of the fights were leaning towards mexico's favor

Hey bro why do you act like you guys beat some great mexican fighers.Alot of mexicans and boxing fans in general including me ,knew the pinoys were gonna win.The mexicans were basically old bums, and you guys had your best prospects. And i know your gonna say ortiz was a champ before but he lost his belt on his first defense. He sucks. And the guy banal beat was a last minute replacment wich means he probably didnt prepare properly. And the guy gabi beat had like 10 losses. The roman victory was a good one and so was the gonzalez one even though gerry was geting schooled, but a win is a win.And the most important fightwel you know what happened.Let me refresh your memory on fights that really matter between pinoys and mexicans, not fights between prospects and bums.Diaz -suico,marquez-jaca,viloria-nino,viloria-sosa,pac-barrera,solis-mayol,montiel-gorres,viloria-ortiz,de leon-penalosa,de leon -bautista,penalosa -gonzalez.Championship bouts and the mexicans won 8 and pinoys only 3 so mexicans come on top when it really matters

Its completely not true that I try to put down Filipino fighters and their fans.
I don't think that its even possible case Filipinos have very positive altitude.

What I try to do is to bring the true meaning of the term "world cup".
It the contest its really 5-1 no one can deny it, however there is
complete misundestanding for the word "world" in this contest.

So I think that when Leon exposed Bautista's chin in one round it
was more important than any other win Filipinos scored this night.
This particular event was only one which qualified as the true "world" achievement.
It pushed Leon to the level close of p4p status and bring down
the best Filipino hype of Bautista being the next PAC.
Sorry Filipinos, I admit you won 5-1 but I think you lost more.

Cut ther crap down . . . nobody is saying anything about the best Mexican fighters . . . the bunch is talking of the just concluded boxing affair dubbed as the "World Cup".

Don't act stupid and try to drag the arguement somewhere else.

Domngo, you see you have positive altitude, I knew!
I said before that there were only two title fights which gave
the reason for this contest to be called "world cup".
In this "world" contest on paper it is 1-1.

However as you mention Penaloza is 35 and it is no big future for him.
Thre is much bigger future for Leon comming from this win.
If you look on dark side Gonzales lose is much lower for Mexico than
Bautista for Philipines cause Gonzales never was hyped so much.

One very positive thing for Philipines is new hype for Banal,
at least to the next "world cup".

True world achivement? You don't know what you're saying stinky . . . :yep .

If you want to be literal about it . . . the word "world champion" is just a crap. There's only one world . . . the world that we live in? Right? How many world Champions do we have in one division? Four!

So again . . . if you want to be literal . . . Ponce is just the WBO champion . . . not a world Champion. And it should not be a world achivement as you are trying to say. :D

    :?

Gonzalez is fighting Penaloza better than Ponce did . . . until he got hit and can't beat the count of ten. :D

Ponce is a beast? Well that's the way he looked against Bautista but not against Penaloza. Penaloza gave Ponce a hell of a fight and make him look average.

You want to watch that fight again before you open your mouth? :yep :hey

if some of you guys wanna get technical about this world cup then the only fight that really mattered was the Jhonny Gonzales-Jerry Penalosa fight. It was the only true fight between the Best Mexican Bantam(Gonzales) vs the best Pinoy Bantam(Penalosa)
