Why would any pro take a dive just for the hell of it? Of course Malik got paid. Now he can put money down on a nice home.

Malik Scott wasn't badly hurt, look at his face when he was down.

He could have gotten up, but he didn't want to.

He was certainly not concused, I could tell by his eyes and facial expression. He did not try to get up either. He may have realized his balance wad shot and that Wilder was hoing to bust him up, or he just quit for whatever reason.

I don't really care, it wasn't a meaningful fight. The real tragedy is the Garcia fight robbery.

    Both Sides:

    No:
Because Wilder hits so goddamn hard that even a lovetap on the ear is enough to drop someone and make them completely incapable of rising, try as they might.

    Yes:
Because Scott came in fat as a mofo and didn't throw a punch.
Because Scott winked at Wilder before getting dropped.
Because Scott went down the first time he was touched.
Because at no time did Scott look disoriented or out of control of his body.
Because Scott "tried" to get up, and it looked more like he was trying to look like he was trying to get up.
Because there is no way Scott was shocked by Wilder's power, having felt it before.
Because that could not have been the hardest shot Wilder had ever hit him with.
    Because they're friends for chrissake.

My opinion: Scott didn't want to fight him and figured he probably wouldn't win anyway, so he didn't train and then went in there to collect his pay with the minimal amount of damage possible. Didn't hurt to help his buddy get to 31-0(31) and may have gotten some extra pay on the side for that. Felt a punch land upside his head, fell over on purpose, pretended to try to get up. From his perspective, he couldn't have known what a weak punch it was, because he didn't see it coming and it probably hurt enough to make him think it was the kind of punch that would look relatively normal to go down from.

If it had happened later in the fight after taking some punishment, or even if they hadn't sparred, it would be reasonable to say that Scott got hit and then decided he didn't want any more of that. But he knew what kind of power Wilder has, and it's not like he was taking a beating. So he wasn't shocked by the power, and he wasn't like "Ah f*ck it, I don't need this." Clearly he came in there intending to do what he did.

No question in my mind Scott threw this fight. None. The left glanced of his head but it was not enough to do damage. The right missed completely.

    His purse should be withdrawn.

You could see when he went down he was clear eyed, even looking over at someone. A total flop.
