Had great performances past prime against Collazo and of course Marg too. Looked decent against Cotto despite losing as well. Special fighter indeed.
I can not for the life of me figure out why he didn't go to 140 instead of going up to 154. The class just did not suit him. But yes, he was very deserving, especially in his lightweight days.
He deserved it. The man was great and his inside handspeed and good inside power were something special.
No I dont think the nickname fit him. he was a very good fighter with fast hands. the boxing skills were not there. He wasnt slick enough in the ring. His personality didnt really fit the Sugar title either. Nice guy. Good fighter made a ton of a $. No Sugar. Splenda. Aspartame?
the guy went undefeated over a band of ok fighters at 135 then went to 147 beat oscar who was proving to be not as great as first said then it's all up and down from there i say nay nay
GOOD call Asterion,Alot of fighters are super good Salesman!!!!!Iwas glad to see cinnamon kid knock the beauty contestant smile of goofy guys face:rofl:rofl
To be honest, i don't think the average fan refers to him as "sugar shane mosley". Every time i hear people talk about Robinson or Leonard the "sugar" moniker is always applied, maybe die hard fans will call Mosley by it but i just don't see it sticking over time.
Literally anyone crying about Mosley having sugar as his nickname are ****ing ******ed. It's a name and thousands of boxers have used the same nickname, and many more in the future will as well. If your gonna say Mosley doesn't deserve it then why the **** should Leonard? Robinson is clearly the greatest of all time and Leonard isn't, so why should he get billed as 'sugar' as well? The counter argument to this being that he was a great fighter, well guess what, so was Shane and being the 4th best fighter with the nickname sugar out of thousands (SNV is probably the 3rd most deserving, arguably 2nd) suggests he is clearly deserving of it so I'll leave you with this statement. if you think someone that you could arguably have in your top 100 ATGs and arguably a top5 lightweight of all time, a long with being a 4 time world champion and winning a world title in every division he fought in, can't have a nickname that thousands of boxers have used then you should seriously just log off. Oh and another thing that's just my personal opinion. Sugar Shane has the best ring to it out of them all
The one guy who sticks up for Margarito, turns up here and trashes Mosley. Wonder why Your iron chinned warrior got his lights knocked out by a long gone Sugar Shane. You have no place here, go back to the general.
A nickname is a nickname. Anybody can use one and plenty of worse fighters than Shane Mosley have been called "Sugar". There was even an ESPN fighter called the "New" Sugar Ray Robinson recently. Did Mosley continue the "Sugar" Ray saga? Not necessarily as he wasn't the outstanding fighter of his era except for a very short amount of time before Vernon Forrest dethroned him. Leonard and Robinson will be remembered above him and this is no shame on Mosley considering how great those fighters were.
:dealRight. i've been saying its been given to him which it has. Robinson & Leonard themselves approved of it too so what more approval does he need? Jesus? Other than him I count their opinions higher than armchair warriors who won't accomplish an eighth of what Mosley did. Lol at SNV reference but all jokes aside no one is getting a sandy vagina over him having it and he's not even as third of accomplished as Shane.
Theres actually an article on the front page of this very website, 'Sugar' Ray Phillips picks Bradley to upset Pacqiao. My brother used to train with a guy who used to call himself 'Sugar' Shane Enright (he turned pro and was knocked out multipl times back to back) I personally dont think Shane lived up to the nickname. I dont think ive ever called him 'Sugar'. Ive always called him Shane moseley 2bh. However people can use whatever nickname they like. There was a guy who recently tried to sue Tyson for 'stealing' the Iron Mike nickname.
