There was a rematch clause and it seems a lot of people are saying they had no rematch because saurland wanted to earn money off Haye but I also never heard Valuev calling for a rematch... did he?

I think the fact that he chased Haye for 12 rounds and didn't catch him with anything significant, would of ruined his confidence in a rematch and he wanted no part of Haye.

Haye didn't throw much but when he did (about twice a round) he connected with clean shots.

I was at the fight and thought Haye won easily but I could of just been caught up in the atmosphere, for a relatively eventless fight it was a really good atmosphere with oles everytime Valuev missed.

well I think Haye messed his confidence up, chasing a fighter for 12 rounds and not catching him will do that to you.

    :yep

It hayes that lacks the confidence to give him the rematch, King's advice no doubt, you usally don't fear a man you have to chase, an i thought hays lost, by a round

Maybe Valuev was paid off by Haye/Sauerland so he foregos his right to a rematch. Remember Sauerland said they are open minded on canceling the rematch clause if Haye is willing to extend his options with Sauerland.

In an interview SNV said a rematch with Haye wasn't an attractive fight, since Haye would run again. He said something to the effect that this is boxing not track and field.

No, or else he would have activated the rematch clause.

We all know this is just a ploy by SNV.

Act all clumsy against Haye, fake an injury then a glorious comeback to follow.

He gets a nice holiday & will regain the title then go into politics/Hollywood.

In an interview published here on ESB Valuev says that there was not rematch clause and that he did not understand why the media had come to believe that.

That sounds fishy because voluntary defense contracts usually include at least one option. If this one did not then SNV knew he would not be fighting again any time soon and cashed out.

David Haye admits Nikolai Valuev rematch is on the cards if he beats John Ruiz

By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 12:51 AM on 30th March 2010

David Haye is being lined up to face Nikolai Valuev in a summer rematch if he beats John Ruiz on Saturday.

When Haye outpointed the 7ft 2in 'Beast from the East' to win the WBA heavyweight title last November, there was a rematch clause in the contract.

It means Haye's dream of facing one of the Klitschko brothers in a unification clash is likely to be delayed until next year.

Haye admitted: 'I might have to face Valuev again, but I am not sure how realistic that is. I am focusing on making sure Ruiz is despatched in good style.'
