Arent you the same guy that bitched when people were saying that Dirrell got the raw end of the stick? I find it ironic that you ***** because Kessler didnt win!:rofl You seem bitter...Lets say the ref. did take the points away...Kessler still would have lost because he got his ass handed to him!:good Pot calling kettle black!:good
I don't mean for this to be taken as a defense of Ward or Froch's tactics, but you bring up a good point here and it's a criticism I had of both Dirrell and Kessler. When you're not the hometown fighter, and it's clear calls aren't going to go your way, you've got to be prepared to adjust to the tactics. That failure to adjust tells me there's been a lack of preparation because it's too common of a scenario to ignore when you're the man doing the traveling. No, hometown reffing is not fair. It puts the "advantage" into homefield advantage. I'm not defending it - but it is what it is and must be accounted for by the visiting fighter because it's not realistic of their teams to expect their opponent to ignore that advantage. I thought both Dirrell and Kessler never adjusted to it in time to put on performances better than what they actually did.
Is there a chance that Kessler has had a career of fighting mainly Euro type fighters that participate in what Teddy Atlas calls "a silent agreement"? Meaning the type of fighters that Kessler has fought (which is more prevalant in Europe) are the type that are willing not to punch during or immediately after a clinch? That is more of an American or Mexican style of fighting, to hit during the break or clinch. When two European fighters engage, they seem always content to do it a distance or in the pocket, not while clinching. This obviously isn't always the case, but seems to be more so than other parts of the world. Kessler maybe has never fought anyone on a high level that employed these tactics. Combine that with the fact that Ward had better handspeed and head movement than Kessler was counting on and it turns into a real long night.
no he used what allowed bernard to be successful for so many years lead right head then grab technique
Are unintentional headbutts cheating? Only Ward knows for sure if they were on purpose. I got to see rounds 5-11. Did not see any elbows and from what I saw the clenching thing was a joke to call dirty.
Haven't seen it yet. But a boxing trainer friend of mine says there were 5 headbutts. No 1 headbutts 5 times unintentionally. guess I will have 2 c 4 myself, tho.
Jack Reiss the referee did not do his job PERIOD!!! He allowed Ward to butt like a billygoat And hold tighter than a barnacle whenever Kessler got inside. Kesslers camp were wary about the officiating & this fight proved they had every right to be Peole praise Reiss for not calling it a TKO win for Ward but that was just to try to cover up his biased officiating. Do you think he'd have called it a tech decision if he hadnt knpown Ward was way ahead on the cards??? Not on your life
Im American, and yes, Andre Ward intentionally fouled a disgraceful amount of times. But, he clearly won the fight, and Kessler would have been hard pressed to win in his own hometown with a hometown referee deducting points left and right. He was the lesser fighter.
You can't expect Kessler to cheat - he has obviously been trained not to cheat all his life. I think Ward's tactics were questionable. The clinches, the punching from clinhes, the headbutts which all seeded to hurt MK and not the other way around. Call yourself SOG, act like a saint and then cheat like Hopkins - a new boxing strategy for the 21st century.
