What hype? It's a fact that he has world class skills, it's just his dedication that is in question.

Skills? He has them in abundance. Most talented/Skilful fighter on these shores.

    No.

Dedication - The quality of being dedicated to a task.

Skills - The ability to do something well.

Time to put you on ignore tardtards.

I don't think there's been that much hype , I think he has the ability to become a world champion but perhaps he'd be better at 140 if he can make the weight

I agree, dedication, problems outside the ring, lack of power and perhaps being at the wrong weight .
He is a really really skilled boxer, but at no point has been tipped for world beating or anything.

No because at the age of 28 he'd been protected to such a degree that he'd never fought anyone outside of British level.

There was a clear reason for that.

Maybe im confused, how can Frankie Gavin be the most skilled fighter in Britain? Based on what? He looks great shadow boxing or his footwork is great when fighting sub par opponents?

Burns, Khan, Froch, Groves all get slated on here daily in multiple threads. All have competed at world/elite level and proved themselves yet Gavin gets a free pass?!! The guy hasnt done anything since turning professional god knows how long ago. He did have a good amateur career and then at the pinnacle couldnt be arsed making weight.

He is now fighting at welterweight when he should be at lightweight. Any half decent WW is going to walk through him. A thread yesterday with people thinking he beats Brook at WW?!! I cant stand Brook but he lays a beating on Gavin at WW.

I have never payed much attention to him. I didnt realise he was even that good as an amateur until recently..

I've seen him fight afew times and I havnt seen these 'skills' people keep referring to.

I think Frankie Gavins career so far has been relatively hype free. People say that he has excellent boxing skills and has the potential to be a World Champion. Both of those things are absolutely true.
He came up short in a fight with a good and undefeated champion. So what? A loss doesn't have to be the end of a boxers career and it is this idea that has lead to so many boxers not facing the toughest opposition as they all still need to make a living.

In terms of SKILL - Burns and froth are f*cking terrible. They look like newbies.

Take away Khan's speed and then what? All he has is savage body punching (when he uses it).

    gavin is VERY skilled.
