I think that would be one of the stupidest things he could possibly do at the moment. Only reason would be to up his profile against the guy who came close to beating the guy he's the number one contender to. Taking such a huge risk to lose the payday and shot at the title is only for guys that are really, really good and confident. Whyte is not that good and he knows it, but he does have a chance to upset the applecart if he gets his shot. Plus there's the whole thing where he might be able to either force Wilder to fight abroad without the referee looking out for him, or getting overpaid if Wilder wants it to take place in his backyard. Also, if the pursebid gets won by Whyte's team, there's te possibility that Wilder might actually pull out, leaving Whyte as the full WBC champ. Not likely, but it might just happen. All that he would needlessly jeopardize by fighting Ortiz. Floyd never fully unified at any weight and only wanted good opponents if they were on the slide and in his backyard with own commision, drugtesting, rules... Joshua probably wants that too.
Mayweather reached a pay level I don't see being replicated anytime soon by anyone. With Joshua making well over 20m a fight at home he'd be a fool head stateside on the promise that one American earned more than that in recent times.
Why would Dillian want this? He's looking for a glamor date with one of the big names and the payday that will come with it, not to get his ears comprehensively boxed off for a relatively modest purse.
Like I said, this is where the money is at and if Mayweather can make that kind of money here, a Joshua, Wilder fight can come close or exceed it. It's a money fight and there's no doubt about it.
Ortiz is A level talented but DW definitely beat some fight and dog out of him. I'd feel very confident that DWhyte has reached his physical/mental prime and this DWhyte would prove too youthful for this Ortiz and I believe this fully healthy Whyte and fully in fight shape would stop Ortiz mid/later rounds. Many on here have been vastly under rating Whyte since day 1. Most had to do with AJ being associated with him and lots has to do with Whyte being known to fight up or down to the competition. I believe those days are long over and see Whyte staying in tremendous shape and beating all convincingly until he reaches AJ again or Dwilder.
You think a Wilder fight can outsell a Mayweather bout? Dream on. Noone is generating that kind of money on their ppv debut.
You need to broaden your horizon and look at the hype potential. The personality clash, two huge individuals, one from the UK and the other from the US. Both knockout artist. The hype potential is tremendous. American fans heat up fast and this fight can capture the imagination. It will be a blockbuster.
Where’s all of this Whyte love coming from? Ortiz would stop him and Wilder would knock him unconscious. Whyte is currently a half step better than Chisora. Beating Browne and Helenius doesn’t mean much. Andy Ruiz performed against Parker at a higher level than Whyte ever showed.
TRANSLATION: I know Whyte gets badly KO'd by Wilder but I'm running out of excuses for AJ to duck him.
Whether you think he wins or loses is irrelevant. What is relevant is Whtye being the WBC #1 ranked fighter so next mandatory (which should be next fight for Wilder) is him.. This Hearn putting up a road block is rubbish.. Hearn is Whyte's promoter and he wants to get his fighter a shot at a title.. Thats what he is paid to do...
