Dillian Whyte vs Otto Wallin set for October 30th

Whyte by stoppage (unfortunately)

 

Anyway, Wallin could beat Whyte, it wouldn't surprise me.

I think Whyte has been on the boil to long, I think he has missed the boat, at 33 years old Whyte isn't improving any longer, this is as good as he gets.. and judged on his last 4 fights, he is not winning a world title.

Dubois would cave his face in, Joyce would squash him.. Whyte isn't in the top 5 Heavyweights in the U.K. In my opinion.

I think AJ, Fury, Dubois, Joyce and even Chisora all beat him now, I haven't seen anything from Whyte since he knocked out Chisora that makes me think "wow" and against Chisora it was just that left hook, it wasn't a masterclass from start to finish.. it was just a spectacular finish.

After Whyte knocked out Chisora, that was the time to fight for a world title, really mix with the best in the division, take the AJ fight for a crack at the belts, he had made a lot of money with the PPVs, it was the time to strike, really go for it.. but Whyte went backwards..

He fought Rivas and we all know about his tests and b samples issues.. went the distance and enough said, Whyte should have copped a ban.

Wach, went the distance and looked awful.

Then was knocked out by the shell of Povetkin which I believe took something out of him and sure he won the rematch and won well but Povetkin could barely stand upright, so we won't know what Whyte really has until he meets resistance and Wallin should provide him some.

Actually looking back to before Chisora II, Whyte was extremely lucky to beat Parker, before that he went 6 with Browne.. Browne a year later was stopped by DAVE ALLEN inside 3.


Whyte is in a position where he isn't good enough to beat Fury or AJ and quite a few others so it's maybe in his interest to ride this PPV thing out until he gets beat.. and then go to Hearn and see if he can get a title shot and cash out.


All that to basically say Whyte is bang average, I understand why my wife sometimes wants to strangle me.

 

Whyte will KO Wallin and Fury fans, who have hailed Wallin as a top contender, will ignore it. Then Fury, who just said he'd fight Whyte this year, will change his mind again.

 

Whyte might be 7th at this point; Hughie will be 27 in two days and is the most experienced HW in the division of his age in a time where HW's typically hit their peak in their early-mid 30's. He looked much improved against Wach, did a far better job than Whyte in Saudi and fought a faded but non-shot Povetkin very close just over 2 years ago, while Whyte got KO'd by the shot version.

To be fair to Whyte. Joshua was not offering him anywhere close to 8 million.
As I recall he was offered similar money to what Whyte had made fighting Parker. And also from what I remember from interviews at the time, Whyte was about to cave and take the fight, but then Joshua's team decided to add another stipulation regarding the rematch split.

For me, Joshua didn't want to pay Whyte what he was worth for the April date in Wembley. You can blame Whyte if you want, but it was pretty obvious Joshua wanted to cancel the Wembley date, when he couldn't get Wilder and Fury, to pursue his American adventure against Big Baby Miller.

The Joshua-Whyte negotiations were just a face saving exercise for the fans.

Anyway, none of that changes that Whyte is long overdue a WBC title shot

 

This is actually pretty interesting. A lot better than any of the other options, don't see how you can complain about this.

If he does it will likely be against Fury, and he will have 0 chance.

Wallin won decisively even! Proves he's above top 30-40 quality, maybe in the same category as the likes of Chisora/Ajagba/Sanchez - Top 20?

A good fight, I have to give Whyte credit for this one.
Wallin needs to come in light, if his gas tank holds up he can give Whyte tons of problems and maybe even beat him.

fair play to whyte though. When he retires eventually he’ll be remembered for being in a lot of hard fights, wbc champ for over 1000 days or whatever it is. I really hope he gets another shot at a world title soon because he deserves it
