Well, styles make fights and also anyone can have an off night. I just hope Dirrell doesn't stink the joint out by running and pot - shotting all night. I can't see it because the boos will raise the roof. There will undoubtedly be 10,000 smashed Nottingham Forest fans present - I understand Notts Forest F.C. are playing at home that day.

Froch is used to dealing with fighters that come to spoil. He managed a points win against one of the ugliest fighters I've ever seen - Matthew Barney.

Siaca, Lucas, Mundine, Beyer, Andrade. I find it strange that you're picking on Kessler in terms of doing down a fighter's competition, he has probably beaten more top ten super middleweights than the rest of the entrants put together.

Do you realize 7 out of 10 fans actually pick Froch to beat Dirrell, and most of them are expecting knockout?

So given the one-sided polls and predictions, the ones who are in for a rude awekening are those 70%. Dirrell is surprisingly overlooked here.

Vanderpool and Pemberton were more meaningful wins than Reid in my book, possibly Sheika too, Reid was done by that point the other guys were all still top ten or thereabouts.

Comparing Dirrell to Calzaghe at the time he fought Lacy is like apples and oranges. Calzaghe had fought and beaten the likes of Eubank, Reid, Sheika, Woodhall, Mitchell, Brewer who are all two levels above anyone Dirrell has ever beat. He's going to have to step it up big time if he wants to beat Froch.

He has completely dominated five top ten fighters. Why oh why do people seem to pretend like these fights never happened when discussing his career?

Unless Dirrell looks totally different to how I've seen him up to now.....the former undisputed MW Champ and the current WBC Light Heavy champ :yep

Every one of them was a legitimate top ten super middleweight, two were reigning belt holders. Beyer was ranked #4 in the division at the time, Mundine #3, Andrade is now ranked #4. If those guys aren't **** then who the hell is? Are we now living in a world where victories over legitimate top five fighters mean nothing? If Kessler has beaten nobody at super middle then neither has anyone else in the tournament. He has more victories over top ten super middleweights than the rest of the entrants put together. Kessler is for real.

if dirrell does his homework and really prepares for this fight there will be no surprises at all. everyone knows what froch is about. everyone knows his flaws and everyone knows how he compensates for those flaws with heart and determination. the question marks are on dirrell. this entire fight is in dirrell's hands. what do i mean by that...

    1. if dirrell allows froch to drag him into the trenches (where he has never been) and impose his will, bad sign for dirrell. this is up to dirrell whether he has the resolve to stick to his gameplan.

    2. if dirrell allows the 10k + fans to rattle him then that is a bad sign for dirrell. again, this is up to dirrell to block them out.

    3. if dirrell thinks that getting lazy w/ his d and footwork won't matter that much against froch like it hasnt mattered against his opposition thus far, bad sign for dirrell. froch will land a straight right at some point if dirrell keeps asking for it. again, this is up to dirrell to really work on those things prior to the fight...

i could keep going on but you get the point. froch is a very tough and dangerous man but we know what froch will do when the opening bell sounds. what we don't know is what dirrell will do. i think dirrell is being overlooked by a lot of people and has the talent to outwork froch to a UD. whether this happens depends on whether dirrell has the resolve to make it happen.

It's a hell of a lot for Dirrell to deal with but there is always a chance he will come up trumps. It would be stupid to rule him out but he's got an major task on his hands. Insurmountable? We'll see...... If he pulls it off, and looks good doing it, I'll be damn impressed.

i agree its a tall order for dirrell. what's the saying...

"we aint in kansas anymore dorothy!!!"

i'm sure there will be a moment like that after the bell ending the first round sounds and dirrell sits in his corner thinking, damn that guy is strong. its at this point he needs to show resolve and stick to his gameplan and not let froch walk him down and drag him into a slugging contest. its going to be tough and dirrell hasnt faced anyone near froch's level, but you gotta earn your stripes at some point.
