OK I erred on the undefeated part. Not sure what you're waffling on about with the abstract terms though. This was a unification fight of 2 great fighters.

I expected nothing from Audley Harrison personally. You could say Haye vs Klitschko was very disappointing, most people were expecting knockdowns and a knockout instead we got 12 boring rounds and David Haye’s ‘sore toe’ excuse.

Yes! I’d forgotten how pissed off I was watching that one. Like you, I stayed up till the early hours and then watched a non-event of a main event. Huge letdown.

The common thread running through all three of those fights is age. Older fighters with high quality careers providing false expectations. I don't believe age will ruin the supposedly upcoming Terence Crawford - Errol Spence fight but those guys will be a combined 67 years old by the time they fight. It does damper my expectations a little bit.

I think of those 2 fights a lot. Imagine if Leonard and Duran only gave us their third fight and we didn't get the other 2. To me, that's what Pacquiao Mayweather was. I'm not saying the outcomes would have been the same but what we ended up getting was an underwhelming fight.

For me, the last time I was this hyped for a fight was Alvarez-Golovkin 1.

Abstract in that there is no definitive way of measuring such terms in boxing, and being right or wrong, it is merely opinion.

For instance I would agree Holyfield is arguably a great fighter, but also argue Lewis misses out. Plenty would say I am too strict/harsh on Lewis or indeed think Holyfield is not a great, and thus greatness is an abstraction as we have different values to measure it and thus sometimes come to different conclusions.

Holyfield had already been beat by Bowe twice and also was defeated by Moorer before he fought Lewis.

Trinidad-De La Hoya. 2 terrific fighters in their primes for the unified WW title. You had the rivalry going with a Puerto Rican and a Mexican (American), and that has a rich history. Both of them were pretty high on the p4p lists. Not only was the fight disappointing, but it ended it controversy.

I didn’t expect Mayweather’s fights with DLH and Pacquiao to be good, but it had so much mainstream attention and you hoped they would surprise you. But neither fight was good, especially the latter.

    Morrison-Foreman was disappointing.

May vs Pac is an obvious one.
    Wladimir Klitschko vs David Haye
    Tim Bradley vs Devon Alexander

Juan Diaz vs Michael Katsidis looked like a fight that could have been a classic given their styles but turned out to be very underwhelming and one sided.
