You're relying on the word of De La Hoya now?

    Lord no.

I'm relying on the actions of Canelo, he's not fought Benavidez despite him being the next best SMW in his division.

By the way I agree Canelo needs to fight Benavidez this year, and with 2 fights remaining on the PBC deal I don't see how he fights Munguia this year. DLH obviously wants his fighter to dethrone Canelo so he'd be pushing for it, but lets just act like Canelo is in fact ducking Benavidez based on statements from De La Hoya.

Benavidez had his own problems making weight and being stripped of titles due to drug use that set him back at having a shot at Canelo. But in recent fights Benavidez has done what he needed to do by beating Plant and Andrade so I agree Canelo should fight him this year. Benavidez needed to prove himself after the issues he had previously, which he did, and now he deserves the fight.

Ryder and Charlo didn't have to prove themselves.

Any point from the full unification Canelo should have fought Benavidez, that's over 2 years ago.

Well Ryder was Canelo's WBO mandatory, and he did prove himself by stopping Zach Parker who was undefeated to become #1 contender.

He put his plans to fight Saunders on hold to face Yldrim for the WBC belt, the minute Benavidez had to vacate. That spoke volumes.

Mandatorys suit when they want them to suit.

    Benavidez held the WBC belt.

He knocked out Love, Dirrell, Lemmy, Andrade and he beat Plant.

He isn't a secret talent, he's been on the world scene for 7 years now.

He's done far more than anyone else in the division not named Canelo.

It's embarrassing he won't fight him.

Well the WBO is more strict when it comes to enforcing mandatories than the WBA or the WBC, so that took precedence. Also, don't forget, prior to the PBC contract, Canelo was with DAZN so the Ryder fight made sense last May. The earliest he could possibly fight Benavidez was last September after he signed with PBC. I'm not mad at him fighting the Charlos back to back, those are fights that fans wanted to see Canelo fight for a lot longer than Benavidez. But yes Benavidez has earned a shot and is the biggest challenge for him at 168. I wanna see the fight happen, but I wouldn't call it embarrassing that it hasn't happen yet.

    I disagree completely.

Canelo was able to make fights with every belt holder, he could have made a fight with Benavidez had he wanted.

    2 years is too long.

Haha I hope he never fights Benavidez just to see all these worms in here have a meltdown.

He was fighting on DAZN. Benavidez was PBC. Now he's with PBC so the fight can happen. Before it couldn't. The same problem for Canelo Munguia now, they are under different promotional banners presently.

We do have 1 champion at 168 and his names Canelo.
Maybe if Benavidez didn't lose the belt twice to being an idiot, than he could've already had his shot.

There's no reason for Canelo to not fight Benavidez at this point. Not Jermall (who I am a fan of), not Munguia (who needs to fight someone prime or at least "current" top 10 at the weight), not no one else................

    Just Benavidez.

DB is only going to get better while Canelo older. He needs to fight him in September, no excuses.
