Did he just say Aziz is twice the age of Joshua Clottey? So he's 82? Looks damn good for 81, he's no Jane Fonda. though.:nonono:sisi1

Boxing was an American sport before (overwhelmingly), this is not a difficult fact to comprehend. Now things are different, and you dont like it. Find another sport.

    Facts.

This guy has taken on mythical status. He was pretty good, nothing special. I doubt he would have troubled GGG if that fight happened.

It was an american sport because we actually cared about it and SOME of our top athletes went into it and made the rest of the world (love to mexico tho) look like amateurs.

Since the 1990s boxing has lost its appeal in the US, our kids dont watch it, there really arent many boxing gyms around, outside of a few hardcore fans anericans just dont care anymore.

You guys come along johnny cone lately and wabt to say these lomachenkos abd usyks are ATG fighters by beating average opponents.

The best Americans now like wilder, crawford, spence, all of them would just be some guy in most other eras. There was a time when guys of crawfords level may retire never winning a title!

ATG fighters used to be guys with W's against LEGENDS of the sport...

You want to say these usyks and lomas are the best fighters NOW, fine, its debatable but fine.

But you need to be realistic that this era is trash, and none of those guys have a single historically significant win between them.

LOL delusions, its not hard to be number one in a sport where 98 percent of the elite participants come from North America. Now things are different, you do know this is common sense right? Your mental gymnastics are hilarious.

Your arguments are literally the opposite of reality but whatever.

Lomas wins over linares and campbell are ATG wins that people will talk about in 50 years and Usyk over Gassiev was the modern day Ali-Foreman

Its called common sense. It is not hard to dominate a sport where most of your society compete, participate in said sport (while the rest of the world doesnt) and have the resources and cultural incentives to compete in said sport. Now things are different, its not hard to grasp this fact.

You do know that there is video of fights from before 1990 right? Wow, Lomachenko’s and Crawford’s all over the place.

Do you not understand how stupid you sound? Maybe the sport is less popular in the US now because it has become a global sport. If the World Series of baseball was a global sport it wouldn’t be as popular either. Ever wonder why the most popular sports are Baseball and Gridiron? USA! USA!
If America wasn’t the best at basketball that sport would lose popularity as well. Boxing isn’t as popular as it it used to be because now the US understands their context in the global picture, Soviet and Cuban fighters don’t play around with the sport.

Soviet and cuban fighters cant make 10x as much money in the NFL, American athletes can and thats where they are.

If you truly think America is fielding its best athletes in boxing you are deeply dillusional

America has never had its best athletes in boxing. Getting punched in the head has never been that popular.
Soviet and Cuban fighters aren’t raised in a culture that worships money, so your assumption that money underpins motivation is baseless.

Ignorance, again, boxing is an individual sport, you get paid depending on how much you can attract in crowds, it never had the collective General salary that team sports tend to have. You can earn a huge living in boxing if you can become famous, its hard to do that now when the rest of the world can defeat any chance of you becoming popular in your own country. Some guy from Kazakhstan now can defeat any hyped up over glorified American star, popping that bubble and preventing him from reaching stardom.

Just accept this new globalized world of boxing. By the way, nobody in the world pursues a profession in sports, most people end up getting normal jobs, so its not like boxing is a first choice of jobs for people outside the United States either.

We don't know much about Pirog. He had gone after he knocked out Jacobs.

There is a difference between being an athlete and being a fighter. Realistically who gives a **** about these guys if there not in the ring, it's like saying Steven Seagal would have been the greatest MMA fighter in history if he hadn't become an actor! I mean FFS!

Exactly! My accountant who lives next door would have been the next champ if he didn't like maths:risas3:. This ****ing bull**** about all the great modern American fighters are in the NFL or NBA, annoys me so much. No they are not, their ****ing football players and basketballers! The truth of the matter is that eastern euros and Mexicans are more natural and better fighters. Upbringing, socio economic situations call it what you like.

He had a couple of fights in Russia after that. But then a serious back injury forced him to quit boxing. Now Pirog is a politician, a member of the Russian parliament. He probably doesn't look like it, but Dmitry is a very intelligent guy, almost a philosopher.
