pirog has just become a typical euro champ.

he had his momentum and he blew it. he aint even young is he, he'll probably get upset to another euro soon anyways.

what the hell happened between Pirog and HBO?!?? were they banking that much on Jacobs? and why can't Pirog get (any) exposure in America with the will to do it, and a title to go with it, is beyond me...

I won't be able to watch this tomorrow.

Why? Why? Why wasn't it today? Why on a freaking Sunday?

    Stupid Russia.

Had it been today, given Russia being a few hours ahead of Germany/UK it still would have been over in time to not conflict with the cards in either of those countries.

No, let's have a world title bout at noon eastern on a Sunday.

How did he blow it? they brought him to give jacobs martinez' belt, when that backfired they shelved him. Thats why he is fighting in Russia instead of US. I have seen him say he is very willing to fight there.
    Its politics.

Pirog had an option to fight on ESPN earlier this year but his Russian promoter turned it down. It's one of the reasons I've gotten less sympathetic to his situation; he or his team seem unwilling to take the evidently necessary steps to get bigger fights.

While I agree that it would've helped his visibility here, it's an insult for someone to win a belt (even if it was a paper one) via knockout on HBO and then be demoted to ESPN fights earning peanuts. To my knowledge that's never happened with any other fighter before. Dmitry's not a young fighter; I can't blame him for going where the money's at.

HBO's punishing him because he cost alot of people alot of money when he knocked out Jacobs. And with Showtime focusing on 168 and not 160, there's no other avenue for him to get the bigger fights here until HBO calls him back.
