Do any GGG fans think he could have been competitive against the following:

I give GGG a lot of flack for his level of competition and unwillingness to move up. But I can't take away the fact that, dude can fight. We didn't even get to see the best GGG he old now for a boxer. He's a very interesting guy and poses a lot of Hall of famers a pretty competitive fight

I'm hoping and praying that he finally moves up once Canelo ducks him in September lol. Ward would have beat him imo

He'd be competitive with all of them.

    Hardest fights: Calzaghe, Hagler, RJJ
Easiest fights: Probably Duran because his best weight was lower and Hearns because of his chin issues.

Toney and Hopkins are difficult to judge. Toney because he really talented but also was hot and cold - if he came in like he did against Tiberi he'd be put into ICU. Hopkins because he was so damn awkward it really comes down to whether you could handle his style. There were promising glimmers from the Murray fight for Golovkin, who, when he got tired of getting held, would take a little step back to negate the clinch and pepper MM with shots. Yes, I know BHop is on another level.

I feel that all of them are within his potential to beat, whether or not he actually would is another story.

That really depends what Duran shows up. If Duran takes the fight serious and has a great training camp then he could light GGG up and have him punching air. I would favour a motivated Duran to out-slick GGG. GGG is technically excellent but he's robotic and slow. A sharp Duran would see the shots coming and be able to slip and counter GGG all night. Golovkin has a style that would make Duran look good imo. The only worry I would have for Duran in that fight would be how he deals with GGG's freakish physical strength.

Yes. But it doesn't matter, he doesn't have a time machine.

With respect to Hearns, it depends on how good Golovkin's beard is. Hearns hurt Hagler and we all know how great Hagler's beard was. If Golovkin can take a punch as well as Hagler then he would probably stop Hearns. If his chin is any less than Hagler's then my money would be on Hearns stopping him.

Duran would need to fight the perfect fight, GGGs hand speed isn't great I'll admit he's still going to stalk and walk Duran down. Due to him clearly being the much stronger guy and bigger.

GGG has never fought a pound for pound potential HOF fighter and we have people saying he would win against legends. GTFOH.

People saying he would win a fight against Sugar Ray need to take them fanboy glasses off.

I agree. Duran would need to bring his A game. Duran was a very skilled, very clever fighter and when in shape he had ridiculous stamina, stength and durability which he showed in abundance in the Barkley fight. His reflexes were still great up at middleweight as well when he turned up in shape. Stylistically Duran has the potential to expose GGG's flaws a lot worse than what Brook did in flashes. If you look at Duran's career he usually looked good against the bigger stronger stalker types. To beat a non shot Duran you definitely had to have a lot of speed with reach and to be clever with it. Duran was extremely hard to hit clean so those things are important attributed to have against Duran. A good defence and elusive footwork are pretty essential as well since Durans offence was so highly advanced.

Yeah fair point but that's just it lets just say all those guys were fighting each other one would expect wins and losses, the Mayweather effect has had such a negative impact on boxing so much that you read posts on hear all the time about if someone loses us a bum and if he wins he's over rated, for what it's worth I don't really think Sanchez believes his man beats everyone up to light heavy as I've heard him contradict himself on that when asked if his power would translate upwards.

Yep, that's a point people often forget. Boxing is unpredictable and people have good nights and bad nights. Any fight between two truly elite fighters has the potential to be somewhat competitive imo, even if sometimes one of them ends up getting blasted out.
