Wow...i m pretty sure some come on here just to complain about stuff. They,d almost be gutted if boxing sorted itself out.

You,ve rambled on about hatton. What part of boxing how you know it...does not sell enough. The way you want boxing to be....isnt happening and hasnt been for a while anyway. Thats not eddie hearns fault. Look around you...literally no one is doing it.

Your demanding something that just isnt there.

So they have to sell it another way.

That involves stuff like having hatton on the undercard or some love island winner or whoever.

But on the upside you still get two top ten fighters...fighting regularly. We,ve not been seeing that for years now. We now get boxers active again and the sport active.

The bad news is...you have to pay for it.

Your talking about eddie disrespecting the hardcore but tbh....i dont think the hardcores his market...and why would it be.

The mentality of the hardcore is i want good fights made...top ten v top ten regularly....and i want them free.

It cant really be done and its not worthwhile for anyone financially. Its a bit like...eddie you cant do it. We hate you then.

Eddies saying look guys no one can do it...no one can do it unless they want to lose money. No one is doing it.

You saying i hate you then.

    Again and again.

    Whats the point.

Tell me then why wilder fought 40 bums. Or ruiz has one named opponent out of 30 before joshua. Or ortiz fought no one till wilder.

Take eddie out of boxing. How come no ones putting these top ten v top ten fights on with any regularity. There having 30 fights with one named opponent. Why?

Without eddies ppv money fighters are fighting non challengers till they get one thats financially viable.

The very thing yous are moaning about.

That was his one named opponent in 33 fights.

After he loses he has to go back to fighting...a guy called devon farmer an ancient kevin johnson and dmitrekov. Bearing in mind that was a close fight with parker...some thought ruiz won why does he go back to fighting low level guys for 3 fights. Why are no promoters offering him good fights not on ppv.

Luckily for him joshuas opponent gets caught with peds. They then look for a new opponent and he gets the fight. What happens to him if the big fella doesnt get popped for drugs tho and he doesnt hit the jackpot.

    Probably not a great deal

However he did just sign up with PBC shortly before the AJ opportunity arose and was more than likely on the list for Wilder

That changed when he appeared dangerous i guess

Damn straight I've rambled on about Campbell Hatton, absolutely, when people like you believe and defend a debutant 4th on a PPV bill is fine.

A debutant that was so poor, so average, so over hyped and so over promoted I personally think it was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in boxing in quite a while.

I'm not demanding anything, I am telling you and people like you, that you are doing long term damage to boxing, in the long term this doesn't work, this slowly kills the sport.

I'm noticing now that many younger people are starting to watch UFC, they are switching off boxing and switching on a sport where the best actually do fight the best, one belt, one champion, no confusion and better cards with competitive fights.

If you think that charging £20 for Campbell Hatton, Wardley, Chris Kongo and a list of average fighters is doing the sport a service then I don't know what to tell you.

You will, long term lose the next generation of fans, 100%, Hearn knows this and that's why I believe he will move away from Sky this year and go to DAZN, this isn't sustainable, even casual fans will start to understand they are being sold a poor/average product and when that happens it's game over.

Oh right so we've gone from "The best fighting the best" to "two top ten fighters" regularly.. I'm happy you've realised and acknowledged it isn't "the best fighting the best"

That "best fighting the best" line is straight out of Eddies mouth, I've heard him spin it that way many times, you blame Hearn for nothing.. I have to ask.. are you connected to Matchroom in any way?

Also this isn't a hardcore market? Really? So the loyal boxing fans who have held the sport up for years, decades and have lined the pockets of people like Hearn and fighters can now go shag themselves because time have changed? And you say there is no disrespect?

One thing you do in any business is keep your loyal customers happy, sure you can modernise and change some things but you keep you base happy and there are more and more dissenters by the month.

YES IT CAN BE DONE, if you pay fighters what they are worth, do you not understand that all that is missing is a LIVE GATE in the U.K.?

Advertising, DAZN and Sky money is still there, just the live gate, that does not justify sticking on bang average fighters and asking boxing fans to pay £20 for them ON TOP OF A SUBSCRIPTION, At a time when there's a pandemic and people are struggling.

One of the reasons given to allow "elite sport" to continue is the happiness it brings to people, the mental health benefits, well that is not strictly true is, if it's behind a subscription and another paywall then that isn't doing people a service. It's making money, fleecing people.

This is a money grab, that's all, nothing more and nothing less, Hearn, Sky and DAZN are happy and enjoying sticking on PPV events on a rock in the middle of a pandemic, while most businesses are losing money (even football clubs) they are not losing money, they are maki g money because they can stick a bang average (at best) PPV card on and use the excuse there is no live gate.

Once this pandemic ends, and live Gates return, do you believe that Hearn, Matchroom, Sky and DAZN will say "well thanks for keeping us going, we will go back to how things were before"?

Nope, they will continue to churn out that sort of crap and stick it on PPV, the damage has already been done by people like you.

Appreciate that mate. That’s why its a bit of a line and obviously where people are butting heads at the moment. I agree it will be an issue for those who can’t afford it and they will see less boxing and I massively sympathise with that. I would however compare it to watching films - 10 years ago everyone was on the same wavelength watching films on telly. Then you had Sky movies as an add on. Then Netflix came along. Then all of a sudden Amazon entered this market. Then a few others. We’re now seeing those same competitors taking over TV programmes and they are now creeping into sport such as Football and Formula 1.

It’s sad, **** for those who can’t afford it and I really sympathise in those scenarios. The world is slowly becoming a lot more expensive and wages aren’t catching up in real time.

That's always been the case. Some fighters are over-protected. Some fighters are brought along slowly to develop their skills.

i have a feeling the quality of Dillian Whyte's resume is being greatly over-stated as well.

Agreed. Chisora is what he is, and the fights were close. Parker is a decent win but I don’t rate him that highly tbh. Not impressed by Povetkin as he was clearly a shell. Rivas is ok, but if he didn’t look like a bodybuilder I don’t think it would get as much credit as it does.

The PPV model isn't comparable to the film market.

There is only one way to legally watch a PPV boxing match live, in your home. There have always been several ways to legally watch films. The Netflix model is not more expensive than it was up until that point. Netflix costs something like £7-£15 per month depending on the package you select. The minimum package is still better value than the 90's paying for or renting a single VHS, and the same applies to the DVD and blu-ray. In theory, you could watch hundreds of films, documentaries and television series for less than a tenner.

The fragmentation of professional sport is another matter.

To add to my earlier point about the structure of boxing. I get the criticism of Eddie Hearn and where it comes from. I didn't buy this PPV (in the end, I was wavering). However I see just where @bbjc is coming from and although he can stick up for himself I think it's worth pointing out that the easiest way to garner likes and praise here is to stick it to the man, if you do try putting an alternative point of view you'll take some blows and some will throw the shill label around, but the forum would be a dull affair if everyone just put forward the party line.

On Hearn and UK boxing. I think Eddie Hearn is a very, very good promoter. Of his fights, his company, himself, the lot... I don't know what he's really like, but they say you never know a man till you do business with him and it from my external perspective, that he's a popular man to do business with. That means he delivers for his customers and it's important then to identify just who they are, because it tells you why the structure is the issue rather than the personalities...

    Eddie's customers are:

    Sky / DAZN
    The fighters he promotes
The fans / includes casual and smaller subset of hardcore knowledgeable fans

His business doesn't work without all three, but they all have conflicting demands. The broadcasters want reliable winners who they can build long term narratives around and progress to PPV.

The fighters want to be matched with puddings that fall over before the bell rings and to be showered with belts, money and easy defences till they're too old to climb over the rope.

The casuals want to get pissed, sing sweet caroline and watch our guy knock their guy out. The hardcore fans want every card to consist of 50/50 contests that finish in an epic KO at 2:49 of the 12th round.

How do you please all of them? The answer to this is also the answer to this thread.

29 pages in and some half decent reading!

I still think the idea that we cant get half decent fights without PPV and Hearn uses PPV money to invest in the sports as a whole is laugable but we can all agree to disagree.

In all honestley i hope Hearn ****s off to DAZN completly and really bumps the content on there, get Saulerand onboard get a DAZN WBSS underway and ill be a happy subscriber!
