While he was the best opponent that Kirkland has faced in his comeback, he was not supposed to lose period. You coul?d argue Ishida saw holes he could exploit, but who in the hell actually even called his upset. Anne Wolfe has nothing to do with this. Kirkland is training with a much better trainer in Kenny Adams. The last time Ishida fought was in October of last year, he had been sitting idle for nearly six months so to say prior to the fight Ishida could KO Kirkland is a bit far fetched man.

it is far fetched but it had to be on Ishidas mind

he sat idle for a long time was an ok fighter at best from my knowledge this was the opportunity of a life time and the reasons I gave must have been in his head when taking the fight

but you are right nobody picked this result at all

I chalk it up to a great Ishida night, I mean he did land that great punch like 10 or 20 in and Kirkland just never recovered.

and to Kirkland maybe not having enough time back he went from what fighting guys who were total garbage to a guy who was an interim title holder and probably due to the short time to prepare he probably had no film of the guy

They should put Pirog vs Ishida, an international card.

If the rematch of Maidana/Morales happens, that would be a good undercard fight.

Ishida should be given another big fight. James would have been given a big fight had he murdered Ishida (if he wanted it and felt confident enough to take it). It just so happened that Ishida did a job on Kirkland and made him look silly in the process. Obviously Ishida deserves another chance--he blitzed Kirkland who was full of hype.

I doubt it. You are more likely to see Andre Berto against a no-hoper.

I really don't care one way or the other. He's good enough to be on some undercards, but I honestly do not think blasting Kirkland out is a great win. It was a decent win produced by an okay fighter, but James Kirkland was never anything special.

Ishida should be getting the same attention as Pirog after his victory. Kirkland got his ass whooped in spectacular fashion.

I'd like to see him fight again. Tall, rangy guy with a willingness to attack and exchange... sounds like an entertaining fighter to me.
