For a short time, he was a special talent. Speed, power, defense, hunger, ferocity.

Then he married Givens and dumped Rooney.

Even as a 19 yr old observer, I had seen and read enough about Boxing to know it wasn't going to end well from there.

Benn had a huge heart, but Prime Tyson was on a much higher level than Benn ever was.

Michael Watson easily beat Benn simply by exhibiting a tight defense and letting him burn himself out. Then cleaned up.

Not saying he wasn't, Saad. Just saying that sometime the worst thing to have Benn in was trouble.

Tyson did stuff that Benn could only dream of.

yeah he was special cause he had it all, lucky for him he made it last long enough for some kind of legacy even though he fizzled out soon.

you would be hard pressed to build a better swarmer type fighter, it was like he was designed physically to kick peoples asses, he was built like a nuclear war head with the neck as big as a tree trunk. not only was he a brute physically but he had the reflexes to make that tank physique lethal.

as well as all those physical attributes he had the killer instinct and natural talent. what ever you say about him he was a human shark that could beat anyone when he was at his best. I'm not saying he was the best ever or anything but his peak was a force of nature.

there is a reason why to this day people still talk about Tyson's peak the way they do, it cant just be cause he knocked out a load of bums can it? I think time will be kind to his legacy personally, right or wrong, that peak 80s will be separated from his post prison failures.

Tyson was a special kind of a ******. Tyson was tough and fierce that he pissed his pants instead of fight 40 year old fat Foreman.

You mean get hit in the head so often he ended up with brain damage? Or do you mean lose to Ken Norton 3 times and yet people still called him the greatest? Wait you mean lay on the ropes and hope Foreman got tired and then avoid him in the rematch?

Michael Watson was a huge step up for Nigel Benn at that time. Watson was a very good up-and-coming contender with a complete set of skils, a well-rounded fighter.
Mike Tyson was much better managed because he was given learning fights against fighters like Tillis, Green and Ribalta who extended him 10 rounds, none of whom I'd say were the equivalent of a 24 year-old Watson.

Tyson was one of the better fighters of the Holyfield era.
