He's got a 65% KO rate, of course he is a puncher. Just look at the guy, he's built like a small tank and he's explosive.

He relies on his boxing more than his punching, though, and that's a good thing because he has a very well rounded skillset. Now of course he doesnt have Julian Jackson type punching but JJ looks like a caveman next to Canelo. Skills pay the bills.

53-1, 36 KOs, 65% KO. Yea I'm gna put him in the punchers category. Real good boxer as well, Canelo can do it all really.

I know about him being basically shot and a bad ole drunk, but again, he just seemed to lay down. I don't think he came to win, let's put it that way, it was lackluster from the beginning. Never seen him not commit on his punches in his whole career and all of a sudden he decided not to because (according to Canelo fanboys) he was so scared of a 5'8" middleweight without that much power at 160 let alone above it? As I was watching it I thought it was suspect as hell tbh, thought Kovalev was gonna flop at some point, just looked like he was waiting for the opportunity.
I know he has money troubles so I'm not putting it past him.

Who knows. The KO looked legit but then Canelo set him up for a short camp with a hydration clause just after a brutal fight. Kova could easily have been shopworn and running on empty too.

I think this is more likely. Reminds me of the Pac vs DLH fight. Walking zombies.

His shots seem to be carrying more mustard on them since he went oh his ''meat diet'' and his body morphed in to Hulknelo. Definitely a heavy-handed hurtful puncher but not a KO artist. His body shots seem very weighty, though.

There is that, he could've been operating on fumes. The insistence on not giving him even a full camp let alone a recovery period after such a war was pretty disgusting. That rehydration clause was the misery compiler. That whole fight was suspect as hell.
